An understanding of the musculoskeletal systems is a critically important component of disease and disorder diagnosis and treatment. This importance is magnified by the impact that that this system may have on another. A variety of factors and circumstances affecting the emergence and severity of issues in one system can also have a role in the performance of the other. Effective analysis often requires an understanding that goes beyond these systems and their mutual impact. For example, patient characteristics such as, racial and ethnic variables can play a role. An understanding of the symptoms of alterations in musculoskeletal systems is a critical step in diagnosis and treatment. For APRNs this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans. In this Assignment, you examine a case study and analyze the symptoms presented. You identify the elements that may be factors in the diagnosis, and you explain the implications to patient health. To prepare: By Day 1 of this week, you will be assigned to a specific case study scenario for this Case Study Assignment. Please see the “Announcements” section of the classroom for your assignment from your Instructor. The Assignment (1- to 2-page case study analysis) Develop a 1- to 2-page case study analysis by answering the questions provided following the case scenario. They focus on all academic concerns, but for this assignment, your task is to explore the problems during the Progressive Era and find a topic related to a STEM field. Click on this link, which enables access to School Life publications. Select the “Year” dropdown box, and choose a year from 1918 to the start of World War II (1941). It's MSE 550 Advanced Materials Characterization class. Catalog Description A key purpose of this course is to familiarize you with fundamental concepts and terms used in materials characterization. Students will be introduced to analytical instrumentation for the characterization of materials; including SEM, SIMS, Auger, analytical TEM, and other advanced research techniques. The purpose of this assignment is to present a summary of your research into (or literature-search regarding) a particular characterization technique of your choice. I would pick Topic: The Use of SEM in Failure Analysis of Engineering Materials GUIDELINES (for presentation slides): --------------------------------------------- --- You should budget to speak approximately 1 minute per slide. --- So, a 15 minute talk would give you time for 15 slides. 2. Use 16 point font, or larger, for the bullet points on your slides --- 16 point font would be readable on the slide --- it is ok to use a smaller font, e.g., 14 point, for sub-bullets; but do so sparingly. 3. One option is to divide each slide into two halves, --- and have bulletized text on the left hand side of the slide, --- and a figure or picture on the right hand side of the slide. --- This will make the slides more interesting for the viewers. 4. If you are including data or a figure from a reference on a slide, list the reference (in 10-point font) at the bottom of the slide; --- but if you have many such references on a slide, --- then provide a reference number on the slide --- and provide a references-slide at the end of your presentation. 5. Place a slide number at the bottom right hand side of each slide --- e.g., in 10-point font 6. Provide the Title of your Presentation and Your Name on the Title slide. 7. Example slide structure (your numbers can vary from this): --- Title Slide = 1 slide --- Introduction slides = 3 slides --- Description of technique = 5 slides --- Case Study 1 - introduction, background, what is this about = 1 slide --- Case Study 1 - experimental set up = 1 slide --- Case Study 1 - key results = 1 slide --- Case Study 2 - introduction, background, what is this about = 1 slide --- Case Study 2 - experimental set up = 1 slide --- Case Study 2 - key results = 1 slide --- Summary - 1 slide --- Thank the audience for their time and attention - 1 slide I attached example provided from the instructor for one of the students. We can pick an easier topic if you want to.
