Throughout the length of this course, you are going to be working toward creating a Zoom interview with a licensed therapist in the field having a different culture than your own. For the first phase of this assignment, please create a list of questions that you will use to prepare for the recorded Zoom interview assigned later in this course. Please include the following in your questioning: How and why the practitioner uses the DSM An overview of the background of the practitioner to be interviewed (place, education, work history) An inquiry on the practitioner’s theoretical orientation (theory they come from; theory of where peoples' mental health issues come from) Culture/worldview (culture/worldview and how it impacts the way the practitioner works) How does the NASW Code of Ethics "dignity and worth of the person" and/or Christian viewpoint of human value and dignity impact their work as a social worker? Inquire regarding stigma (understanding of stigma, how they fight it, how they approach it; unconscious bias and extrapolate) Ask how they see diversity, generally, and as it plays a role in their practice (in relation to clientele, the population they serve, how culture and all of these factor into their approach; research understanding; cultural humility; contemplate immersion into a different culture) How do they evaluate their treatment for efficacy? While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
Al-Ani, Horspool, and Bligh (2011) described qualitative aspects of working in virtual teams, often with virtual strangers (Here we sit in our virtual classroom!), ranging from the continued importance of face-to-face communication to an entirely “virtual presence.” As discussed in Week 6, a multigenerational workforce presents multiple levels of leadership challenges that have continued to evolve in parallel with the Internet age and the changing dynamics of the modern worker. A leader must still lead despite where teams may fall on the continuum. Does a virtual team benefit or stifle an organizational structure? What are the new leadership toolkits necessary for success? To Prepare Review the Learning Resources. Consider the communication challenges that exist in virtual settings. By Day 3 Post a description of the benefits and challenges of communicating with co–workers or clients/citizens in virtual settings. Can the problems be avoided or overcome? Use specific examples to explain your response. Required Readings Clawson, J. G. (2012). Level three leadership: Getting below the surface (5th ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA, also known as ObamaCare) became law on May 23, 2010. It strives to reform the health insurance and health care industries in an effort to cut health care costs and provide Americans with affordable health insurance. The ACA also strives to expand Medicare and Medicaid to assist those Americans who cannot currently afford health insurance. As a result of the reforms, there may be a significant influx of patients into the health care system. In addition, there will be a greater focus on integrating health care services, particularly for individuals with physical and mental health conditions. It is expected that under the ACA, social workers will take a more active role in the coordination of care for existing and new members of the health care system. Social workers will also provide additional direct, frontline services to patients. To prepare for this Discussion, review this week’s resources. Consider the debate over the ACA and explore the reputable sources on the Internet for additional resources on the balanced debates over the ACA. Consider how the ACA might expand meaningful services to all Americans including children, young adults, uninsured minorities, and spouses of employed individuals. Consider one population. BY DAY 4 Post a description of the findings of your research on the debate over ACA. Explain some of the misconceptions or misunderstandings the general population might have about the ACA. Explain how the ACA may or may not increase affordability, health insurance coverage, and access to health care services for the population you selected. Explain the potential or documented influence of the ACA on medical social work practice. Describe the medical social worker’s role in clarifying the ACA to patients and families.
Members of the Indigenous communities of Bolivar filed a petition before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in April 2014. Their claim was not only limited to the “Green Arch Project” but requested the Commission to assess the lack of fulfillment of the agreement subscribed with the government in September 2013. Their main argument was that the state of Venezuela had historically and systemically discriminated against them. The Commission took the case to the Court in August 2018. As a judge of the IACTHR, your task is to FINAL DECISION AND CONCLUSION over the subject matter, supported with arguments using the CASES of the Court
Discussion 2: Statistics on rates of poverty in an area can tell us a great deal about the context in which people live. As you consider the region where you live, think about the rate of poverty, wealth disparities between the richest and poorest citizens, and opportunities for social mobility available to citizens. For this Discussion, locate information regarding poverty statistics in your city, town, or state (BALTIMORE, MD). Determine efforts that are currently in place to address poverty in your area.
Don’t use any outside source for this assignment- I will provide all the tools needed Here is the text book and I will upload the rest of the PDFS needed Textbook!!!!!! https://www.homeworkforyou.com/static_media/uploadedfiles/Gender%20Textbook.pdf Answer these questions in a three-page essay: What is gender? How does gender function? Why do men and women appear to be different? Why is gender inequality so persistent? In this essay demonstrate what you have learned in this class. Don’t only give your opinion. Give your best assessment as to the answers to these questions, but back up your answers with evidence. You must draw on class concepts, theories and terms in your paper and cite sources using ASA format. You may, and are encouraged to, discuss course concepts, theories and terms in your own words. Citation is still required when you use concepts that are not your own original thoughts, even if you put them in your own words. You do not have to write the paper in four separate sections, but you can if it works better for you to do it that way. You should think of this paper as a very well-written take-home essay. It should reflect what you learned from this class, in the language of this class. The paper should be three double-spaced pages using Times New Roman, font size 12, 1” margins. Create a word document that has your full name at the top, a three-page essay, and references, in that order. Your header should not take up more than 3 double-spaced lines. You do not need a title or a title page. The three-page essay length does NOT include references or your name. If your formatting makes it difficult to tell how many double-spaced pages the body of your essay is (remember: it should be 3 double-spaced pages), we may take points off for page length. Please upload a word or a PDF document onto Canvas. Please have the file named like this: YourLastName_YourFirstName_Assignment3_SOC155. You can earn up to 5 points for a properly formatted essay that follows the instructions for formatting on the assignment sheet (proper font size, appropriate spacing between paragraphs, etc.). All ideas and evidence that are not originally your own should be properly cited using the American Sociological Association citation style, each time you use such an idea. You must use the ASA citation style in the text of your paper as well as in the reference section. You must have a list of references after the essay. You do not need any outside references, but you must properly reference class materials. To see how to properly do references and citation using the ASA style see the PDF called “How To Do ASA Citations” at the top of our Canvas page. All essays should be written so that a sociology undergraduate student or professor NOT in our class could read it and understand perfectly. Therefore, you should fully define terms learned in our class (for example, “gendered”, the “multi-level model of gender”, “deceptive differences”, etc.). When you define these terms, make sure you cite them in the proper ASA style. You must refer to class readings and concepts, however, you do not need to refer to sources outside of what we read in class (though you can if you want to).
Respond to the following questions using the material from this week and provide critical analyses of the course material. Thoughtful introspection helps you understand the material and your key learnings from it. Remember that the more connections you make between what is going on in class, the outside world, and the course material, the better your work will be and the easier it will be to reflect on. Engage with the following questions: What challenges do marginalized people have in accessing basic needs such as high-quality food? What are the large-scale (societal) consequences of food deserts? What are the small-scale (community) consequences of food deserts? What are the three best civic engagement tips for communicating with marginalized communities in need for an outsider who wants to help? What economic conditions are in place to produce food deserts and public housing? What conditions of possibility exist for marginalized people living in public housing? How can a needs assessment help provide support to a community living in a food desert and public housing? Which stakeholders are poised to help communities in need? How might you start a dialogue with a community outside your own about their needs? Is there anything else you want to add? (Optional) Journal entries are reflective documents that provide personal, thoughtful analyses. Personal reflection and self-appraisal are part of the concept of journaling and will help you articulate what you learn in class and how and why you take in messages the way you do. This is deep learning because it comes from self-analysis. This thoughtful introspection helps you understand the material and your key learnings from it.
The Personal Reflection assignment connects the concepts discussed in class and covered in the readings to your own experiences or plans. For this assignment students should submit a 2-page document (800-1000 words) that discusses how one or more of the concepts from the course connects to you on a personal or professional level. You may cover events in the past or present or use the assignment to express your intentions or aspirations for the future. The assignment will be graded on the quality and depth of the personal reflection as well as the clarity of connection (be sure to use and footnote citations/references!). Logical organization of the material and quality of writing will be considered. (TRY TO RELATE THE READINGS TO PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AN INDIVIDUAL MAY HAVE AND CONNECT THE READINGS TO THEM. THEN FOR THE FUTURE ASPIRATIONS PART CONNECT THE READINGS TO HOW IT MAY HELP SOMEONE GO INTO A CAREER IN REAL ESTATE AND DO HAVE A SOCIAL IMPACT ON PEOPLE WHILE DOING SO. The topic is : The concept of social solidarity/compassion according to emil durkheim and how it can be linked to the shipwreck of the expess Samina . The paper is for a sociology department and should be analyzed from this point of view. According to Durkheim, solidarity can be organic or mechanical. Organic solidarity refers to the unity resulting from the interdependence of the members of a society. In organic solidarity, people cooperate and depend on each other, . This can be linked to the wreck of the Express Samina, where the need for cooperation and interdependence was critical to the rescue of the passengers. Rescue efforts by fishermen, other ships, and ordinary citizen volunteers are examples of organic solidarity.
