Question Assignment Scenario After graduating from nursing school and passing ...

Question Assignment Scenario After graduating from nursing school and passing your boards, you accepted a position as an RN in the emergency center at Rasmussen General Hospital (RGH). In the weeks ahead, your emergency center plans to implement a new initiative where clients diagnosed with low-risk deep vein thrombosis (DVT) will be sent home on 3 months of oral anticoagulation therapy with rivaroxaban. Historically, clients diagnosed with DVTs in the emergency center were admitted to the hospital's observation unit. However, when surveyed about their experiences, many clients reported that this was costly, time-consuming, and inconvenient. Under RGH's new program, emergency center nurses will be responsible for educating clients about their new medication and administering the first dose to the client before discharge. As part of this new initiative, all emergency center nurses at RGH must be trained to properly educate these clients on all aspects of their new medication regimen. Because you have demonstrated a keen interest in pharmacology, your manager has asked you to develop the educational tools that will be used to train the nurses at RGH. It's worth noting that the standard dosing for all low-risk DVTs is as follows: 15 mg BID, 12 hours apart, for 21 days After 21 days, use 20 mg once per day After 90 days, the client will follow up in the thrombosis clinic to evaluate if they meet criteria for discontinuing the medication Assignment Instructions Your manager explained that all of the emergency center nurses at RGH will be educated in small groups through a short, in-service training session. You have been asked to develop a professional-looking PowerPoint presentation that the trainers will use to guide the in-service sessions. Your PowerPoint will need to: Be professional-looking, have a title slide, and 10-15 content slides. Use the Speaker Notes feature in PowerPoint to reduce the amount of text that appears on the content slides. The Speaker Notes for each slide will contain the text that will guide what the trainer will say while presenting the slides during the in-service. The content slides themselves should be clear and easy to understand; they serve as an outline so the audience can follow along with what is being presented. Be written using proper spelling/grammar and at a level that would be appropriate for the audience. Remember the purpose of the training is to help nurses learn to educate their clients about the use of a medication. With that in mind, it may be helpful to provide examples of how to explain the information to a client in an easy to understand way without complicated, technical terms. Include APA formatted in-text citations for at least 3 scholarly references and present the sources in APA format on a References slide. Contain content addressing the items below. Pharmacotherapeutics State the drug name and its therapeutic category. Pharmacodynamics - how does this drug work to achieve its intended response? Pharmacokinetics - how is this drug absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and excreted? Discuss dosage, scheduling, route, and length of therapy. Describe what clients can expect regarding their therapeutic response and when it should develop. Introduce nondrug measures that clients can do to enhance their therapeutic response (e.g., specific diet to follow, exercise requirements, substances to avoid, special precautions to take, etc.). Side Effects, Adverse Effects, and Interactions Explain the symptoms of common side effects, and what clients can do to minimize any discomfort. Explain the symptoms of any major adverse effects, and what clients should do if they experience them. List the major adverse drug-drug interactions and drug-food interactions that clients need to be made aware of. Follow-up Care Provide information regarding when clients should call their doctor for advice (e.g., questions, non-urgent symptoms, unpleasant side effects, etc.). Emphasize any symptoms for which clients should seek immediate care (e.g., when to go to the emergency center or call 911). Note: When developing a professional-looking presentation, it's important to be mindful of how you layout your content. The slides should present key points, arranged in a logical manner, without extraneous information contributing to a cluttered look. Using the Speaker Notes feature in PowerPoint is a great way to include relevant details without overloading the slides. What are the possible explanations for gender differences in the diagnosis of AD ...

What are the possible explanations for gender differences in the diagnosis of ADHD? Girls and boys express symptoms of ADHD differently. Girls tend to display the 'inattentive' aspect of ADHD, while boys are more hyperactive and impulsive. "A common explanation for the observed sex differences in referral and diagnosis is that girls with ADHD are more likely to present with predominantly inattentive symptoms, rather than the more potentially disruptive hyperactive/impulsive symptoms, as well as greater levels of internalising symptoms such as anxiety and depression which might lead to alternative diagnoses" (Mowlem et al., 2018). Seeing your daughter be distracted consistently is much less disruptive than your son constantly bouncing around the room, and the latter might urge you to speak to their GP more than the former. A big factor in ADHD diagnoses in children is their parents, the people they usually spend most of their time with. "If sex-specific stereotypes of ADHD exist, then it is possible parents and teachers may not as readily recognise manifestations of ADHD in girls compared to boys" (Mowlem et al., 2018). Certain symptoms of ADHD are less disruptive and openly annoying or intrusive, and might not prompt a doctor's visit. Unfortunately, these more non-disruptive symptoms tend to manifest in girls over boys. Environment, of course, is a major factor in ADHD and how the symptoms present. "One possible explanation for the sharp sex discrepancy in ADHD prevalence is a putative “female protective effect” model. Under this model, females would be predicted to require greater exposure than males to genetic and environmental factors associated with ADHD in order to display sufficient ADHD behaviors to warrant a diagnosis, thus meaning that fewer females than males would be expected to be diagnosed with ADHD" (Taylor et al., 2016). This "female protective effect" model generally explains that women and girls would need to present more symptoms than a man or a boy would in order to obtain a proper ADHD diagnosis. Both internal and external factors contribute to these possible explanations as to why girls and boys are diagnosed differently. Mowlem, F., Agnew-Blais, J., Taylor, E., & Asherson, P. (2018). Do different factors influence whether girls versus boys meet ADHD diagnostic criteria? Sex differences among children with high ADHD symptoms. Psychiatry Research, 272, 765–773. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.psychres.2018.12.128 Taylor, M. J., Lichtenstein, P., Larsson, H., Anckarsäter, H., Greven, C. U., & Ronald, A. (2016). Is there a female protective effect against Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder? Evidence from two representative twin samples. Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, 55(6), 504-512.e2. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jaac.2016.04.004 When replying to your classmates' posts: Read your classmate's post and reply to no less than two of your classmates and a question. Your question should be one of the following three types: Clarification-based: This question helps the writer by asking your peer to clarify points that you think could be more fully explained. Evidence question - When a writer states something as fact rather than personal opinion, your peer's argument is stronger if they cite evidence that the fact is true. Facts can be evidenced, in approximate order of strongest evidence to weakest, (1) by citing trustworthy data, (2) by citing the opinions of experts, (3) by citing repeatable personal experience, or (4) by citing common opinion. This kind of question helps the writer by asking for evidence if the student states something as fact but doesn't cite evidence. Hypothetical question - This kind of question helps the writer by asking your peer to test their argument by applying it to a situation that you specify.

In the context of financial accounting, consider the following scenarios: 1. The process of bank reconciliation involves comparing cash account records with bank statements to identify discrepancies such as deposits in transit, outstanding checks, or non-sufficient funds (NSF) checks. Why is it crucial for companies to perform this periodically, and how does it ensure financial accuracy and prevent fraud? 2. When estimating uncollectible accounts using the percentage of sales method, such as applying a 2.5% rate on $50,000 of sales, how does the recognition of bad debt expense and the allowance for doubtful accounts impact financial reporting? 3. Depreciation of assets like machinery can be calculated using various methods such as straight-line, units of production, and double-declining balance. How do these methods affect the book value of the asset and financial statements over time, and what are the advantages of choosing one method over another? 4. For liabilities like a 120-day, 6% note payable, how is interest calculated, and what are the appropriate journal entries for recording both the issuance and repayment of the note? Finally, how do these accounting principles and practices ensure transparency and adherence to regulatory standards in financial reporting?
