it will be important that you to locate a number of journal articles which focus on the treatment of addictive behaviors. First, choose one of the following interventions that you will write about for your Final Paper (see Final Paper Directions): Motivational Interviewing Contingency Management Community Reinforcement Approach Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention Harm Reduction Acceptance and Commitment Therapy For this annotated bibliography you will need to locate at least 3 peer-reviewed journal articles and 2 scholarly websites related to the intervention you have chosen to write about for your final paper. Not all websites are scholarly so be careful here. Please use journal articles. Other helpful websites include Google Scholar, PubMed, and Crossref. What is an annotated bibliography? It is an organized list of sources (referenced in APA format), each of which is followed by a summary or description of the source which is called an annotation. Your annotations should focus on what you learned from each source about the intervention you chose to write about. For instance, what did the article or website tell you about the effectiveness of the intervention? What did it tell you about how the intervention is implemented? Review the outline for the final paper to get a better idea of what you are looking for in your sources. What does an annotated bibliography look like? The following in an example source from an annotated bibliography: Hepner, K. A., Hunter, S. B., Paddock, S. M., Zhou, A. J., & Watkins, K. E. (2011). Training addiction counselors to implement CBT for depression. Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, 38(4), 313-323. doi:10.1007/s10488-011-0359-7 The authors utilize 5 addiction counselors in their study regarding the practicality of Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) as a supplemental resource in treating addicts with depression. Also, the study sought to measure the overall aptitude and practicality of addiction counselors using CBT for depression. The article concludes the study yielded an increase in patient compliance (increase of 10%) and an improvement in mental health (74%). Overall, the study found that addiction counselors had a strong aptitude for CBT and suggested that more counselors utilize CBT in both group and individual settings.

Hi, You previously did an assignment for me that was the precursor to this assi ...

Hi, You previously did an assignment for me that was the precursor to this assignment and I would like you to continue off of this assignment. I have decided to do the recorded presentation option mentioned in this rubric but would like you to create the proposed research paper. Assignment #3: Proposed Research Paper (25 pts) + Presentation (10 pts) Assignment #3 is related to Assignment #2 (what you submitted in July). We are going to build off Assignment #2. You created your background, your aim, and your tool (survey; interview guide). We are now going to refine and add some components to make this an incredibly exciting research proposal! There are two main components to this assignment: Refining Assignment #2- Your instructor provided you with a lot of feedback on your background, your aims, and your tool (survey or interview guide). Please take those suggestions, modify your background, aims, and tool as needed. Your instructor is around (and happy!) to discuss any of those changes. Adding Four Sections- You will now add four sections to your original paper (Assignment #2). These four new sections should be three-pages in length (minimum; double-spaced). a. Recruitment- How will your recruitment occur? What sampling method might you use? What worries might you have about recruitment in terms of ethics or feasibility? How will you overcome those? b. What risks/benefits might there be in this research? Could some questions cause discomfort? Could some questions be triggering? How might you mitigate these risks? Are the risks worth the benefits? What are the benefits? What are the larger potential ethical concerns? c. What analyses do you want to look at? What are your main variables/questions that will be looked at? What is your initial hypothesis and speak to the association you're expecting to find (i.e. the independent variable will have a positive/inverse relationship with the dependent variable). If you have a qual proposal (less focused on hypotheses)- what themes are you expecting to identify? d. Implications on social work practice. How will this impact social work? On what levels (micro, mezzo, macro) will this research project most speak to? What are the larger aims of the research for you as a potential social work researcher? What might be a next step when you find your hypothesis to be true? Or when you get interesting qualitative data? Using Assignment #2 (three pages) and adding these sections will likely bring you to around 6-7 pages (double-spaced). An ideal amount of references for the final product is around 10. 3. Create a slide deck- You will be given the option to either record or deliver live (in class) a brief 5-6 minute presentation of your research proposal. The slide deck should contain 7 slides (maximum- remember only 5-6 minutes!) 1. Title Slide 2. Background 3. Aim of the Study 4. Methods 5. Recruitment Strategy 6. Ethical Considerations 7. Main aims of analyses The final paper, slide deck, and your presentation will all be evaluated for this last assignment- worth 35 points. Please be in touch with the instructor as needed, he is more than happy to review and talk through materials before-hand. We will also discuss this assignment in class leading up to its due date. There is also a rubric below: Component (Remember to read Assignment #3 on Brightspace for full details) Points Allotted Points Received A title page with the working title of your proposed research project. Include name, date, course info, etc. 1 ____/1 Incorporated feedback of first proposal (Version 1)- You incorporated feedback that either you might want to change on v1 of your paper or the instructor made on your first draft. This could be related to the Background, Aims, or Survey/Interview. 5 ____/5 Recruitment Section- How will recruitment occur? Who will be eligible/ineligible? What type of sampling might you use? 4 ____/4 Risks/Benefits Section- What are the larger risks of your study? What are the potential benefits? How will you as a researcher ensure max benefits and minimum risks? 3 ___/3 Proposed Analyses- These do NOT need to be detailed. But broadly, what key variables are you hoping to examine and what are your hypotheses? 3 ___/3 Impact on Social Work- How could this study add to the SW field? 3 ___/3 Total Paper is at least 6 pages minimum or more (12 pt font; Double-Spaced) 2 ___/2 Your attached Survey/Interview guide w/ relevant revisions 1 ____/1 APA-style Citations List (From First Section) 3 ____/3 Total (Paper) 25 ____/25 Slide deck (7 slides) Title Background Aim of the study Methods Recruitment strategy Ethical Considerations Main aims of analyses 5 ____/5 Live or Recorded Presentation (5-6 mins) 5 ____/5 Total (Presentation) 10 ____/10 Grant Total (Paper + Presentation) 35 ____/35

Wk 4 - Summative Assessment: Functions of the Human Nervous and Endocrine System ...

Wk 4 - Summative Assessment: Functions of the Human Nervous and Endocrine Systems [due Mon] Exam Content Neuropsychology looks at the link between the brain and behavior. Understanding neuropsychology allows a person in the field of mental health to understand how damage or illness to the brain impacts behavior and allows for insight into working with individuals who may have had a traumatic brain injury or stroke. Review Ch. 7, “Movement” and consider how the brain functions in individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s disease. Select either Parkinson's disease or Huntington’s disease as your topic and research information about the disease. Create an 8- to 10-slide presentation in which you describe how the human nervous and endocrine system function in the disease you selected. Be sure to clearly distinguish the functions of the human nervous and endocrine system. Imagine you work for a neuropsychologist with patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s disease. You have been asked to develop a presentation to educate the patients and their family members about the diseases Complete the following in your presentation: Describe the disease. Describe the roles and functions of the human nervous and endocrine systems in relation to the disease. Explain why the disease interrupts an individual’s ability. Describe the behaviors that are typically exhibited following the onset of the disease. Describe the deficits typically seen because of the disease. Describe treatment options available for individuals with the disease. Explain the current research findings related to outcomes of the disease. Use the Wk 4 Summative Assessment Presentation Template to complete your assessment. Write a response to each prompt in the template. Support your response with relevant details or examples. Include relevant tables, graphs, and charts as needed to support your ideas. Include detailed speaker notes on each slide. The slide count does not include the title, conclusion, or reference list slides. Cite at least 2 scholarly sources in addition to the textbook and include a slide with APA-formatted references. Submit your assessment. Cydney Welch Hello Class,Sleep is a state that the brain actively produces, characterized by decreased response to stimuli (Kalat; 2024). Same as adults, infants wake up during the night and sleep all day depending on their diet and environment. I believe for infants their Circadian rhythms are off and on same as an adult.Melatonin could be an issue developing in the brain of the infant controlling how the child sleeps and awakes. As our text reads the suprachiasmatic nucleus regulates waking and sleeping by controlling levels in other brain areas that includes the pineal gland (Ashton-Jones et al., 2001; von Gall et al., 2002). The pineal gland releases the hormone melatonin. With melatonin it regulates sleep and wakefulness. The circadian rhythm regulated by neurotransmitter like melatonin is still developing in infants which controls their sleep. Infants also have issues with their sleep in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep.According to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (2024), parent should always monitor how their infant child sleeps. If an infant sleeps consistently and suddenly is waking there could an issue with the child's health. Some sleep disturbances could be due to change in development or because of overstimulation. External stimuli, such as noise, light and feeding can affect infant sleep patterns that may be interacting with neurotransmitter systems.Kalat, J (2024). Biological Psychology, (Fourteenth Edition) - Cengage Learning Zakia Williams Hello Class, ~Infants take short naps throughout the day in the very beginning. One of the most notable features of the first year is the rapid transformation in size as the average neonate triples their weight, increases brain volume by 100% and becomes fifty percent taller. It is not merely a time to grow bigger, but to establish the functional anatomy to last an individual's lifetime, as many body systems are being established. It is a critical period for growth in brain, bone, fat and lean tissues when significant tissue sensitivities occur, and deficits can ensue, that are not likely recoverable. The rapid growth that takes place occurs with significant variability in the timing of changes in size both within and between individuals as infants adjust from the dependent prenatal environment to independent functioning and express unique, personalized growth pathways. These paths form developmental histories for lifelong health as infant physical growth follows fundamental principles of cell biology under the guidance of chronobiology (Benson & Lampl 2020). A Baby’s brain is still developing in which it is processing patterns and learning how to differentiate patterns such as day and night. Reading also suggests that circadian rhythms are endogenously generated, and not simply a reflection of daily changes in light and darkness, ambient temperature, or patterns of rest and activity. Causing daily changes in the body's development, circadian components of many physiologic and behavioral rhythms can be affected by things such as ambient light, activity, sleep-wake state, food intake, postural change, and emotional state (Duffy & Czeisler 2002).
