As you start to research your topic for your capstone project, remember a good research paper should state and support your thesis statement. An annotated bibliography is an organized list of sources (similar to a reference list) and is a great way to prepare for your research project. It differs from a straightforward bibliography in that each reference is followed by a brief summary of each source. Perform a literature search on your topic for your capstone project. Write a mini annotated bibliography to summarize the studies that you've found and explored. Be sure to include the outcomes of the project or study. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/common_writing_assignments/annotated_bibliographies/index.html

PESTLE Analysis and Health Care Reform Federal, state, and local health care po ...

PESTLE Analysis and Health Care Reform Federal, state, and local health care policies are continually instituted or amended to address emerging issues and trends and to rectify problems in healthcare delivery. For instance, reform may be required to address cost containment challenges or disparities in access to health care services. When addressing reforms, it is helpful to consider issues from an external, environmental lens. A PESTLE analysis is one such method. Taking this approach can broaden your focus when dealing with complex factors. A solution may seem ideal, until you realize the economic impact it would create, the legal problems it presents, or technical limitations that prevent it from being a possibility. For this Discussion, you will explore the political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environment circumstances surrounding the continued evolution of value-based care for the delivery of health care in the United States. You will also consider where you envision the future of delivery of health care in the United States and evaluate what this development might mean for your work in healthcare administration. Resources Be sure to review the Learning Resources before completing this activity. Required Readings To prepare for this Discussion: Identify an issue currently in the news that relates to federal, state, or local reform, and research it through a variety of news sources, such as government websites (e.g., the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Mental Health) and online newspapers. Review the information in the Learning Resources and conduct additional research using the Walden Library and credible websites to assess this issue and associated reform efforts. Do not use blogs or other informal sources. Consider how the issue is related to your understanding of the U.S. healthcare delivery system and value-based care. Reflect on health care reform from an external, environmental lens and consider how to address the issue while incorporating the PESTLE approach. Perform an informal PESTLE analysis on the issue and associated reform efforts, making note of how your selected issue would be impacted by each factor of the PESTLE analysis (i.e., the political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors). The purpose of this exercise is not to submit a robust PESTLE analysis but to use the analysis as a basis for this week’s Discussion. You will summarize the results of your PESTLE analysis in the Discussion. By Day 3 Post an evaluation of the potential impacts of healthcare reform on healthcare administration through an external, environmental lens. Be sure to include the following: Summarize the issue you identified and the results of your PESTLE analysis for the issue and associated reform efforts. Of the six factors addressed in your PESTLE analysis, identify which one you feel might have the greatest impact on your future as a healthcare administrator and explain why. If more issues were addressed through an external, environmental lens (such as PESTLE analysis), assess what the overall impact might be for the future delivery of health care in the United States. Relate at least one aspect of your PESTLE analysis to the social determinants of health, including how focusing on that aspect could lead to positive outcomes.

Communicating to Local Health Leadership By the end of this week, you will submit a recorded video with the intent of providing a high-level overview of the initial scenario presented in Week 2, along with your final recommendations for improving the delivery of value-based health care as a result of your work (Discussions and Improvement Plan submissions) completed during Weeks 3–6. The intended audience will be the local health board for the community assigned earlier in the course. The length of the presentation should be a minimum of 6 minutes but no longer than 9 minutes. During the presentation, you should be visible with live video, accompanied by high-quality audio, along with a view of a slide deck that you will present. There is also a second option for your Assignment this week. The audience and content for your Assignment will be the same, but you can choose to write a 1- to 2-page executive summary and create a three-slide PowerPoint presentation. Resources Be sure to review the Learning Resources before completing this activity. Required Readings To prepare for this Assignment: Review this week’s Learning Resources, including the Kaltura resources, for instructions on how to record your video and tips for presenting yourself in video format, if you choose option 1. Refer to your Community Profile and Continuum of Care document that you submitted in Week 2. Review the six elements of value-based care, the six IOM Aims, and the country comparisons. Consider which one you found to be the most significant for each. You will only discuss your “top improvement” for each to cover in your Assignment. Consider the potential impact of your proposed improvements. What is the current state of affairs? And what would be different for your community if the value-based care elements/IOM Aims were incorporated? In other words, what would be the before and after? Consider how you might introduce and/or conclude your presentation based on your audience. Download the Week 7 Assignment Template (PowerPoint presentation). By Day 7 Submit your presentation to address the following: Option 2: Submit a 1- to 2-page executive summary to include: Summarize your assigned community and health issue, to include the following: Description of the community Social determinates of health for the community Leading causes of death for the community Summarize your proposed improvements based on the value-based care model, IOM Aims, and country comparisons: Explain which one of the six value-based care elements would be your top proposed improvement to recommend to the local health board. Explain which one of the six IOM Aims would be your top proposed improvement to recommend to the local health board. Explain which one of the six country comparisons that you completed would be your top proposed improvement to recommend to the local health board. Be sure to refer to the sources that you used in your research. Additionally, in a 3 slide PowerPoint presentation, address the following: Predict what the implications of your proposed improvements could be on healthcare delivery for your community. Refer to the Week 7 Assignment Rubric for specific grading elements and criteria. Your Instructor will use this grading rubric to assess your work.
