Using the information from this week's reading material, submit your working thesis statement and an Annotated Bibliography of five (5) sources from your working bibliography. Two of the sources must be from peer-reviewed journal articles. If you are writing in APA format, sources should be no more than five to seven years old. An entry in an annotated bibliography consists of two parts, a citation and an annotation. The thesis statement: Before the first annotated entry, please include your working thesis statement, so I can give you feedback on it. The citation: First, alphabetize your sources. Next, put the source in the correct citation format for your particular curricular major. (Or, if you are a General Studies major or writing outside your major, for the topic.) You must use the right format for your major/topic. You will only earn credit in the "format" category of the rubric if you use the right format. Using the wrong format, even if you use it correctly, will earn no points for this category. If you are unsure of your major/topic's format, check here: https://web.archive.org/web/20201023075415/https://apus.libguides.com/programstyleguides/A-B If you're still unsure, ask me. There is no excuse for getting the format wrong on this assignment. The annotation After creating the citation, write a brief annotation of that source. The annotation should consist of three parts. 1) Describe the main ideas covered in the source. (Do not use the summary provided in the abstract. That would be plagiarism. Annotated bibliographies should be all in your own words.) 2) Evaluate the source's usefulness for your project. Explain what ideas of yours the source connects with. You might say something like this: "This source supports the argument that strong supply chains require adaptable management." 3) Give information about the credentials of the author(s), age of the document (most of you will need to use works published within the last decade), and number of sources cited in the document (don't count them. Often, they are enumerated, making a specific number easy, but a general estimation (e.g. "There are numerous citations in this article.") is fine. Again do not copy this from the abstract. Use your own words. Remember that an online source can be a number of things. It can be a book, journal article, blog, podcast script, website, government report, newspaper article or editorial, or something else. Be sure to analyze each source carefully and follow the style guide in presenting the needed info. One goal in your annotation is to help your readers find the source if they want more information, so make it easy for them to do so. Your final paper must include a minimum of seven (7) sources with at least four (4) sources coming from peer-reviewed journals taken from the APUS library. Please note that you are encouraged to include all four (4) of your sources coming from peer-reviewed journals taken from the APUS library in this annotated bibliography. Both MLA and APA styles use a hanging indent and double-spacing for each entry at the end of the paper. Please be sure to check your work with a current style guide, such as those in the APUS Library, or the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL). Sample Annotation MLA format. Her book is a guide for parents, helping them to work with their children's schools to create a positive learning environment and a lifelong love of learning in their children. Topics covered include fostering learning and curiosity in mathematics, science, social studies, reading, and writing. Calkins' work also offers advice on school curriculum and testing. By providing specific examples of parental involvement, this book will help support my assertion that parents need to play a strong role in their children's education. Sample Annotation APA format.
