Change does not always have to be big, extravagant, or newsworthy. Change is more often small, local, and vital to the sustainability of the business. The entire world experienced unbelievable change starting in 2020. From big to small, organizations were challenged with being agile and adaptable. Consider for a moment the number of distilleries that transformed their product from alcohol to hand cleaner. Those that did something, likely sustained and were able to transition back after the crisis. Having a plan and a process are the key elements of successful change. For this final assignment, think small and think local. Be creative and think outside of the box. For example: what if you were in the business of making shoelaces for men’s dress shoes and your environmental scan shows that dress shoes are no longer a hot commodity. How do you transition to something sustainable? Critical thinking is a key component of a change agent. The change problem can be real, or it can be created. It must be believable, and it must be thoroughly explained. You will diagnose the reason for change and present a plan to transform the organization, utilizing Kotter’s 8-Step Approach. In your paper Include the following properly formatted with APA additional sections as needed: Introduction Company Overview Diagnosis Kotter’s 8-Step Approach Conclusion The paper must be at least 10 pages in length (not including the title and reference pages) and must be supported by the text and at least 4 additional credible resources. Competencies In this project, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following competencies: Investigate the rights and duties of an active citizen Apply strategies to support civil social discourse Advocate for social change that addresses inequitable conditions within a community Overview A student at a local university is looking to organize a group to promote the removal of laws banning books from public schools and local libraries. In another part of the country, an employee at a local business notices their workplace culture promotes inequitable conditions and wants to make a positive change. In both instances, like many others you may notice in your daily life, individuals want to become agents of change to improve the communities of which they are a part by tackling issues they are passionate about. Governing bodies gain their power from the consent of the governed. Thus, it is the obligation of citizens to be engaged, active participants who exercise their rights and have the freedom to promote a particular cause. Individuals or groups play a key role in gaining equal recognition under the law. What they do and the results of those actions are what advocacy is all about. To become an active citizen, one must discover ways to participate in the political community and work toward achieving desired goals. It's time for you to take action and make a positive difference in your community. What steps will you take to become an engaged member of your community and advocate for change? Directions To develop as an active citizen, you will write an Advocacy Action Plan that investigates and outlines the historical foundations of an American social movement or interest group of your choosing. This social movement or interest group should be related to one or more of these themes: sustainability, social justice, and/or civic responsibility. You will explain the strategies that your chosen social movement or interest group has used to initiate social change and to work through the steps necessary to advocate for continued change as new issues arise. Use evidence from at least four sources from the Shapiro Library that represent diverse perspectives to support your points. Specifically, you must address the following: Part One: Investigation In this section, you will investigate an existing social movement or interest group initiated by citizens to promote social change. You will also examine the rights and duties of an active citizen and how these rights and duties have impacted the movement or group you have chosen to research. Use evidence from a variety of sources and perspectives to support your points. Describe the history of the social movement or interest group that has been initiated to promote social change. Describe the rights and duties of an active citizen in relation to your chosen movement or interest group. Analyze the implications of exercising different rights and duties in relation to your chosen movement or interest group. Consider the following: What implications should a citizen consider before taking action for social change? What effects have occurred as a result of actions taken by active citizens in this movement or group? Describe the impact of social conditions on an active citizen’s ability to exercise their rights and duties as they relate to your chosen movement or interest group. Explain the impact bias can have on misinformation and disinformation when researching the rights and duties of an active citizen in relation to your chosen movement or interest group. Consider the following: What role does confirmation bias play in the development of your research on your chosen movement or interest group? Explain how individual morals and values impact the behavior of an active citizen as it relates to your chosen movement or interest group. Part Two: Effects on Change In this section, you will examine the effects on change by describing the impact culture can have on a movement or an interest group and look at various influences on civil social discourse related to your chosen social movement or interest group. Use evidence from a variety of sources and perspectives to support your points. Describe the impact of culture on perceptions of your chosen movement or interest group. Analyze how persuasive strategies can be used by your movement or group to influence civil social discourse. Assess the impact personal biases and assumptions can have on civil social discourse as it relates to your movement or group. Describe the role of group consensus on civil social discourse as it relates to your chosen movement or interest group. Consider the following: What are the impacts of group consensus on civil social discourse? How does cultural awareness play a key role in group consensus? How can the mode of communication play a role in group consensus? Part Three: Advocacy In this section, you will advocate for social change that would address inequitable conditions present in a community related to the social movement or interest group you have chosen. Use evidence from a variety of sources and perspectives to support your points. Recommend actions for social change to address inequitable conditions within a community or communities impacted by your chosen movement or interest group. Assess the impact of your recommendations for social change. Consider the following as they relate to your chosen movement or interest group: What are the results you hope to achieve? What impact would your recommendations have on the people affected by the issue? Analyze the legal or ethical implications of actions that may occur when promoting social change related to your chosen movement or interest group. Defend your position for social change that addresses inequitable conditions within a community impacted by your chosen movement or interest group. What to Submit To complete this project, you must submit the following: Advocacy Action Plan Submit your Advocacy Action Plan as a 10- to 12-page Microsoft Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Use at least four sources from the Shapiro Library that represent diverse perspectives to support your paper. Follow APA citation guidelines when citing sources both throughout and at the end of your paper. Although Brightspace allows the addition of video notes in assignment submissions, you may not use the Video Note tool to complete this assignment. Supporting Materials The following resource supports your work on the project: Library Guide: Interdisciplinary Studies in the Commons This Shapiro Library guide will support you in completing your project.

Strategic Planning in Action [WLOs: 1, 3] [CLOs: 2, 3, 4] Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Chapter 1 in Leadership for Today and the Future and visit Nike’s Diversity, Equity, and InclusionLinks to an external site. The purpose of this exercise is to have you practice the key aspect of strategic leadership. This exercise will require you to understand the role of strategic leadership in the strategic management process. For this assignment, you are to assume the role of a leader who has been recently assigned the task of training the management team of its newest subsidiary to embrace and practice diversity at the highest levels. For the purpose of this exercise, utilize Nike as your parent company. Under Mark Parker, Nike is leading the way in diversity. Nike’s vision is for every team to be high performing, diverse, and inclusive. To achieve this vision, Nike’s strategy is the following: Cultivate diversity and inclusion to develop world-class, high-performing teams. Ignite change and inspire critical conversations around diversity, inclusion, and innovation. Create venue and environments for open dialogue, diverse opinions, and a multitude of perspectives. As a multinational corporation, Nike wants to ensure that all its subsidiaries around the world have high diversity standards. Your task is to help lead your subsidiary in developing diversity standards for its respective units that align with the overall diversity standards of Nike, its parent corporation. For this week’s assignment reflection, Write a one-to-two-page, single spaced (no title page) outline regarding your strategic plan to develop the diversity standards for your respective subsidiary that aligns with Nike’s overall diversity standards. You may want to review the UAGC Writing Center’s page on OutliningLinks to an external site. and the Sample Argumentative Paper OutlineLinks to an external site. to organize your thoughts. Your outline must follow APA StyleLinks to an external site.. In addition, be clear in identifying what role you will play as the leader in this process. Your task is to provide an innovative plan with specific steps on how you as the leader will address this project. You are not required to develop the diversity strategy; rather you are to provide an outline of the steps that you will take to accomplish this goal. Consider the following questions in your reflection: What specific steps will you take to achieve the goal? Who will you enlist for support to accomplish the goal?

Reflect on the most complex project you’ve been involved in and then respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words: How would you describe the project, including the work breakdown structure, tasks, subtasks, work packages, and whether you were on the critical path? What role did the project manager play in the project’s success or failure? Include a specific example to support your response. How did the project align with the organizational strategy? How important was project management in ensuring the project met timelines, budget, and quality standards? Reply to these two classmate's statements below whether you agree or disagree. State why and explain. or your faculty member. Be constructive and professional. You will respond in 100 words each statement. 1) Hi class One of the most complex projects I was involved in was the development of a comprehensive e-commerce platform for a retail company. The project was structured using a detailed work breakdown structure (WBS) that divided the project into several key phases:planing, design, development, testing, and deployment. Each phase was further broken down into tasks and subtasks. For instance, the development phase included task such as front-end development, back-end development, and database integration, each with its own set of subtasks and work packages. I was part of the development team, specifically working on the back-end development, which was on the critical path due to its dependencies on both the design and database integration tasks. The project manager played a crucial role in the project's succes by effectively coordinating between different teams, managing resources, and ensuring that each phase was completed on time. For example, when the design phase faced delays , the project manager reallocated resources and adjusted timelines to keep the project on track. The project aligned with the organizational strategy by enhancing the company's digital presence and expanding its market reach, which was a key strategic goal. Project management was vital in ensuring the project met its timelines, budget, and quality standards. The project manager's ability to foresee potential risks and implement mitigation strategies was instrumental in maintaining the project's quality and ensuring it was delivered within the allocated budget and time frame. 2)Hi Everyone, One of the most notable projects that I have been involved in was the implementation of an online confirmation and payment service for a dermatology pharmacy. Before this process was developed, patients would pay for their medication via phone and have their sensitive information stored within the pharmacy's electronic system. To protect this information, an application was created to have patients access an online portal to not only pay for their prescriptions, but confirm if they would like to proceed with the filling of the prescription and allow them to correct any details on their profile that would interfere in completion (i.e. incorrect address where we would ship their medication). For the pharmacy technicians and cashiers who had the most interaction with this new application, there were but a few tasks. The technicians were initially responsible for garnering attention and interest in using this application—this meant urging patients who were used to calling in to pay via the portal by sending them a personalized link after each phone call. While the process was simplified for patients, there were still little manual steps taken behind the scenes. Marking the orders as completed after payment via the online portal so that patients weren't charged twice—once on the portal and once in our electronic system—was one of the most important tasks. This was also my placement on the critical path of this project until a solidified solution came about that synced the system's progress and the online portal. The project manager had little hand in the success of the new application. Apart from being present for questions, concerns, and updates regarding the project, the ultimate success of the project depended on the representatives. The project manager mainly operated as the overseer who would document and communicate progress and hurdles to the powers that be. The organizational strategy revolved ensuring that patients had their prescriptions shipped to their doors from the comfort of their homes within three business days at the least. This project aligned with the organizational strategy by allowing the patients to have more of a hand in their personal information and ultimately, the speed in which things can be processed. The project introduced more efficiency in the workplace by limiting clerical errors and delays due to payment/shipping issues. In terms of project management, I would say that it was mildly important. The pilot application had to be introduced in a timely manner so that results could be communicated and an official declaration could be made on if we would proceed with this or not. Unfortunately, I'm unaware of how this project impacted the budget. I imagine that it became more of an expense for the organization because the process was previously 100% manual/over the phone. Stepping outside of the budget didn't seem to be possible on the end of the pharmacy—I'm sure that the software developers had more of an influence on the budget than the pharmacy workers who used it. The workers who had hands-on interaction with the application and direct communication with the patients who used it influenced the level of quality. I would say that project management aided this by ensuring that all progress/pushback was documented and addressed accordingly.
