1) Three key points; 2) Something that is a novelty for you; 3) The short, take-home message; 3) Your personal take on this podcast. Podcast link option 1: Feeling Doomed? How to Tackle Climate AnxietyLinks to an external site. | How to Save a Planet Podcast link option 2: Why Our Brains Don't Care About Climate Change EnoughLinks to an external site. | The Happiness Lab Option 1 summary: “We’re all doomed.” If you’ve ever thought this to yourself while looking down at the remnants of your paper straw floating in your plastic coffee cup (just me?), you may be experiencing climate anxiety. Climate feelings, like anxiety and grief, are on the rise all over the world. And researcher Britt Wray started feeling them herself when she was newly married and started thinking about having children. So she started to study these feelings to learn more about the roots of her climate anxiety, how common it was, and why learning to cope with it is an important step towards taking climate action. Option 2 summary: Humans are great at reacting to mortal danger... but only sometimes. Unfortunately, some risks to our safety and wellbeing don't set off alarm bells in our brains. Climate change falls into that category. Why is that? Harvard psychologist Dan Gilbert explains how some dangers trigger us, and some don't. In discussion with Dr Laurie Santos, he also outlines ways in which we can be made to care more about threats to the planet and maybe react to them in more positive, happiness-inducing ways.

My topic is (what is the coronary heart disease ) The PowerPoint needs to answer these questions and need refrenses  Pathophysiology is the disordered physiological processes associated with disease or injury. These topics you should cover in your presentation. ? Name of the disease and approximately when it was acknowledged. ? The symptoms of the disease ? Cause of the disease (If genetic, state whether it is a dominant trait, recessive trait or other) ? Incidence of disease in the general population ? Incidence in certain populations ? Identify physiological processes involved ? Physiological system that is disturbed (this should explain some symptoms) ? Explain what is going wrong where the system can’t function properly ? Treatment, including any drugs/medicine (pharmaceuticals) ? For one drug, discuss the specific mechanism or action on how this drug alters the mechanism (e.g., agonist, antagonist, reuptake inhibitor .....) ? Provide examples of membrane transport, cell signaling (especially cell signaling) and homeostasis ? References (only for where you got specific information; no specific format is required)

GUIDLINES : Your answer need to be in-depth posts that add to the conversation with research or data that is new to the conversation, and you need to link where you found your information. Ideally, they connect to the topics from the chapter or lecture as well. The following are some ideas that you could include in your response post.!!!! Answer whether media sites such as science daily should be used at all for a reliable source of research information. Answer whether scientists and/or medical doctors should rely on media sites for information. Discuss how media sources are different from scientific journals in how they try to prevent fake science or bad science from being published, such as a false claim of successful human cloning (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1892198/ for more information). Aim for at least 50 words each in your response posts.

Humans can talk, animals can make sounds, but what about plants? We think of plants as passive organisms unlike animals that can communicate, move and hunt for food. Are behaviors like the ability to communicate by talking, to hunt, or to build a nest signs of intelligence? Plants do not have a nervous system or a brain, which for us humans is the organ system we associate most with intelligence and consciousness. So, if you would learn how plants communicate and move, would you call this intelligence as well? Watch the TED talk by Stefano Mancuso about 'The roots of plant intelligence Links to an external site.' and let's discuss what counts as intelligence. You can widen the topic by discussing if consciousness is unique to humans, or maybe animals, but probably not plants or microorganisms.  write for the topic above and write a 1-2 paragragraphs as a response for a classmates response seen on bottom that's based on the topic.  I learned a lot from this Ted Talk by Stefano Mancuso, he says that plants are more sophisticated in the sense that they are able to sense way more than animals can. Their structures allow them to monitor at least 15 different chemical and physical parameters and show off manuarisms and behaviors that show intelligence isn't to far off of a word that could describe them. There are so many instances where plants show intelligence- like when venus fly traps eat their prey or when plant leaves move as if they're dancing to catch the sun rays or when they actually go to sleep at night and slow their movements and wake up as the sun comes back out. One of the most interesting things I saw from this video was the timelapse of the adolescent sunflower plants literally playing around as if they were kids playing with friends as intelligent beings do as they get themselves ready for adulthood.  In my personal life - I don't know how true it is - I always heard that if you speak nicely and happy to your plants they will grow beautifully and if you don't of if you give them bad vibes they will not thrive. Maybe it is true- maybe they really are that intelligent.

Imagine that you are inside a white blood cell (leukocyte) that is part of the body’s defense system (the immune system).  As this cell is activated to make proteins for defense, the molecule DNA must be used as a template for the code that will be used to make the correct protein. DNA is a polar molecule, as is this particular protein.  Answer the following questions about this scenario. How will water interact with the DNA and this protein once it is completed and ready to send out of the cell? What kinds of bonds will be present (and why those particular bonds) between the: Strands of the DNA molecule – between the nitrogenous bases such as Adenine and Thymine? “Backbone” of the DNA molecule – the sugar and phosphate that hold the bases firmly to the DNA strand? Molecules of the protein – the amino acids (before folding happens)? What will happen to the DNA and protein if the pH of the cell were to suddenly drop to 2.0? Don’t forget to begin with a short introduction to the question and end with a short summary about water, bonding, and pH.

After considering the role of culture in systems of health and healing, carefully reread the section "Multiple Systems of Healing" in Chapter 16. This section relates the tragic incidents of miscommunication between doctors and the Lee family. Compare this to the traditional medical practices you observe in the film clip, “The Most Distant Places.” In both cases, is health simply the absence of disease? What do you think of the Andean definition of health? Some traditional practices, such as "guinea pig diagnosis" may seem farfetched. How did the Western-trained doctors respond to the differences in medical practices in both cases? What do you think Western-trained doctors could learn from traditional healers? How is power a factor in these interactions? Use the film clip, “Laid to Waste” to help you think about how power dynamics influence health situations.
