You will writing about a specific section in a research paper. You will not be writing the entire paper, only 3 pages that will be apart of the paper. I will provide more specific information to write about on a separate document. This way you will know what to write about but you can also improvise on some of the information as long as it lines up with the research project. Research Methods Prompt (3 pages): RESEARCH METHODS (about 3 pages): The methods section documents how you studied your topic. In it, you should describe the qualitative data collection methods you used. You also will describe the techniques you used to code and analyze your data (but save the description of your actual findings for the Results section!). Why did you choose the site you chose? Why did you choose the respondents you chose? Why did you choose the questions you chose? How did you narrow your focus to the concepts you explored? What challenges were presented? Were there any fortuitous developments (e.g. identifying “key” respondents, gaining access to challenging sites)? How did you arrive at your most salient codes? After reading your methods section (and viewing the associated attachments, such as your interview guide), another researcher should have enough information to replicate your study. You can reference relevant attachments (e.g. interview guides) in the text, but attach these items as appendices at the back of the paper. For some of these questions you can just create your own answers as long as it ties in to the overall topic and research.
