You and your paramedic partner are dispatched at 18:40 to an apartment building for the report of a 75 year old male patient altered mental status. As you arrive on scene you are notified by dispatch BLS are requesting an ETA. Upon arrival at the patients door BLS meets you immediately stating " He was just fine a minute ago!!!" You enter the residence to find a patient slumped in a chair with sonorous, irregular respirations. BLS report, "The neighbor said he was a diabetic and acts weird when his sugar get low, so we gave him a tube of our oral glucose gel, but just before you got here he started vomiting and not responding" Your partner checks a quick blood sugar reading it come back as "HI" BLS begins sobbing and says "what did I do wrong?" 1.
