Write an 8-10 page argumentative history essay using Times New Roman, size 12 font, and double-spaced. The essay should include a strong, clear thesis (which will be provided and has been approved by the professor) that should be placed at the end of the introduction. This class focuses on Ottoman history, so the essay must be specific to the Ottoman Empire. Incorporate historical context and focus on a specific time period (16th to 18th centuries) that aligns with the thesis. Each paragraph should conclude with a sentence that ties back to the thesis for coherence. The paper should be well-organized so that it can be read smoothly from top to bottom or bottom to top. Include quotes to support claims, using both primary and secondary sources and make sure to cite them MLA style with in text citations. You are allowed to use sources from the syllabus, but you must also incorporate sources from outside the syllabus to demonstrate original research. Ensure that the primary sources are genuine primary sources. The paper must be written in MLA style, with a works cited/bibliography at the end. You must use at least 5 secondary sources and 2-3 primary sources. Some sources will be provided ( will provide google drive link with the sources), but additional sources (both primary and secondary) should also be found. I have attached an annotated bibliography that I wrote, which should be useful since it is some of the sources in the syllabus are used there and it can be used to help write the essay, although the thesis has been slightly revised which the annotated bibliography was based upon and may not be an exact match. I will also attach the syllabus, which includes the readings she assigned, along with some readings that I think will be beneficial and relevant to the topic of the essay.
