Visit a museum or gallery with three-dimensional work and write a report sharing your experience. Write a few sentences describing the overall show/installation, but focus your attention on one specific piece in that show. The piece you choose must be three-dimensional, but the entire exhibition does not need to be. The work does not need to be contemporary. If you are visiting a museum, you should not be describing the entire museum. Choose one exhibition. If you are visiting a gallery, there will likely be only one exhibition. Do your research before visiting to make sure the museum/gallery has three-dimensional work. Check their website or call ahead. Write a 1.5 page minimum (12 pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced) essay describing the overall exhibition and addressing the following points about the piece you have chosen to focus on. Give the artist’s name, title of the piece, and date of the piece’s completion. What era or art movement is the work from? Or is it contemporary? **If you cannot find some of this information, just explain that in your paper. Why did you choose this artwork to discuss? Explain your interest and/or personal connection with it. Why do you think the museum/gallery considers this artwork important/ culturally relevant? What is the media? What process do you think the artist used to create the piece? **If you do not know for sure, try to figure it out. Give a formal analysis of the work.
