Today, artists work in a globally influenced and culturally diverse world, and the artworks they produce are created through advancing technologies and evolving studio practices. Much like a mirror, contemporary art has the ability to reflect a unique perspective within a particular point in time, and it is important to look at art through this lens because it can embody a variety of perspectives on identity, values, and beliefs. The objective of this assignment is to illustrate and synthesize the major question in the course which is, In what ways do contemporary artists reflect our culture and society? TERM PROJECT | POWERPOINT INSTRUCTIONS: As part of your Term Project, you will create a PowerPoint presentation about your proposed curated art exhibition. This 10+ slide PowerPoint (using 8-10 images) will give you the opportunity to be creative in creating a visual presentation that will introduce the exhibition theme, include an exhibition map, images of artworks and relevant information about the selected artists. The venue for the exhibition; it can be in a gallery, an art center, a museum, or out in public space. Also include an exhibition map that shows how the work is to be displayed. Be creative! Your PowerPoint's format should be consistent, with a selected theme that enhances your presentation and its information, just not too distracting from it. Please be sure to not overcrowd slides and use more slides if you need to for your images and information. This is a chance or you to be creative with colors and themes so have fun! There should be at least one image with written information on each slide that corresponds to the image, excluding the bibliography and title slide. Please be sure to write in the objective third person point of view and proof read for grammar. Each slide should include: Header/Title Image with a caption Writing that explains the context of the image included. Please use bulleted points for the the main points and ideas, rather than extensive written information as in the essay. The writing you include can be excerpted from your Term Project essay. Image Captions: You must include captions under all images used in the PowerPoint, not just artworks. Artwork image captions should include: Artist, title, date Non-artwork image captions should include: website title and website URL used to obtain the image You may use more slides in any area if needed to keep a consistent format that is not overly crowded with images or written information. PLEASE NOTE: The Term Project is a two part assignment: PROPOSAL & ESSAY + POWERPOINT. All assignments within the Term Project are required to pass the course, you will need to score a C- or higher grade (Proposal | 70+ points, Essay | 280+ points & PowerPoint | 70+ points) on all components, as it fulfills the Scholarship In Practice [SIP] requirement for this course. Bibliography should be on its own page at the end of your PowerPoint, using proper CMS format. For the images, the information you include is more than just the URL, but also the date of access and website title, etc. For example, if you used Google images, the images all come from a website. If you click on the image it will take you to the website. References should be in Alphabetical order by author's last name. If the author is not available, then the title should be used for alphabetical order. Please single-space and indent after the first line for each reference. Please include a working link for each source. Bibliography: Include a bibliography that cites all images and written content Overall PowerPoint Format: PowerPoint's format should be consistent, with a selected theme that enhances your presentation and its information, just not too distracting from it. Grammar: Please also be sure to proof-read for grammatical and writing convention errors. Voice: Your entire essay should be written in the objective third-person point of view.
