The main purpose of this paper is to take a step toward the main paper due at the end of the course. In three pages, describe an interesting feature of another country's political system and tell me why you find it interesting. This paper (like the final paper) is not about policy. So, you won't write, say, about health care, gun control, or education laws in another country. Instead, you'll focus on how the political system operates or how the government works, identifying some rule, structure, or practice that looks different from what we have in the U.S. There are different routes you could take to this paper. You might start with a country you find interesting and read up on its political system. Or you might look up how some feature of the political system -- say, choosing the chief executive -- varies around the world and find a specific example that you like.
