The Essay  Directions: Please select one of the following chapter essay questions. As you were listening and reading and through discussions, one specific area of interest was developed. At this point chapters 10-14 are quite specific as they pertain differently to interpersonal relationships of managing conflict or maintaining romantic or friendships or workplace collegiality.  Using the information from the specific chapter you selected answer the essay question. Remember that an essay refrains from personal examples, is well written without errors in grammar, spelling, mechanics, and language usage. The essay will include in-text citations. After using information, as in a quotation from the textbook, place in parenthesis the author of our textbook and the page number referenced. For example:(McCornack pg. 201).  Please review assignment requirement due date.  Chapter 10 you may select one essay question from the following two in chapter 10.  1. Do you view conflict as a negative factor or a positive factor in relationships? What are  some negatives associated with conflict. What about positives?  2. What are some situations when avoidance, accommodation, and competition might be  appropriate, effective, and ethical responses to conflict?  Chapter 11  Regarding social exchange theory, what are the benefits of forming romantic relationships? What are the costs? How do these concepts explain relationship?  satisfaction?  Chapter 12  Maintaining healthy families has become a challenge given the pace of modern life. In fact, it is unusual for families to sit down to dinner together these days. Investigate, and explain using your textbook, what ways are used (e-mail, text messaging, written notes, or phone calls and other means) to communicate with family? Does the use of these communication tools maintain relationship health?  Chapter 13  Look at the list of friendship rules. Would you say that friendship stability is threatened?  when any one of these rules is broken, or are some rules more important than others? Further explain the kinds of communication or experience that would constitute a violation of the rules, and whether the transgression is big enough to create an unstable or failed friendship.
