Reality Therapy Reality therapists believe the underlying problem for most clients is the same: they are either involved in a present unsatisfying relationship or lack what could even be called a relationship. In Reality therapy the moral “Right and wrong” looks at each individual's values, beliefs, and morals. One of reality therapy's goals is to teach clients that others' versions of right and wrong might differ from theirs. Reality therapy doesn't focus on external factors impacting the individual or mental illness as a cause of problems; instead, it promotes the idea that personal choices can cause and resolve all forms of psychological suffering. Reality therapy has been proven to be an effective treatment method for mental health disorders. Research has shown that group reality therapy is effective in improving social anxiety, interpretation bias, and interpersonal relationship in adolescents. Reality therapy can be used in individual, family, couples, or group counseling. This is a brief overview of Reality Therapy.
