Purpose ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW: For your final project, you will create and deliver a comprehensive teaching plan on the health topic (proposal paper) that was assigned to you and present it to an audience. You will record the session, allowing you to reflect on your performance and receive feedback. This project involves two main components: (1) developing a detailed teaching plan, and (2) delivering the teaching session to an audience of three or more individuals, which you will record on video. The purpose of this project is to apply your knowledge and skills in health education by effectively teaching a community health topic, demonstrating your ability to communicate important health information in a clear and engaging manner. This assessment fulfills the following objectives: MLO 12.1, 12.2 Refer to the Course Structure and Alignment page for detailed information regarding objectives alignment to materials, activities and assessments. Instructions ASSIGNMENT COMPONENTS: Teaching Plan: Purpose: Start by describing the purpose of your teaching session. Clearly state why this topic is important and relevant to your target audience. Objectives: Develop 2-3 specific, measurable objectives that outline what you intend your audience to learn or achieve by the end of your session. Objectives should be aligned with the overall purpose and should guide the structure of your teaching plan. Target Audience: Describe the demographic characteristics of your audience, including age, cultural background, educational level, and any specific health needs or concerns. Explain how these factors influenced the development of your teaching plan. Content Outline: Provide a detailed outline of the content you will cover during the teaching session. Include key points, supporting information, and any visual aids or materials you will use to enhance understanding. Teaching Methods: Describe the teaching methods you will use, such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, or interactive activities. Explain why these methods are appropriate for your topic and audience. Evaluation Plan: Develop a plan for evaluating the effectiveness of your teaching. This could include asking your audience to complete a short quiz, participate in a discussion, or provide feedback at the end of the session. Your evaluation should measure whether the objectives were met. Video Presentation: Deliver the Teaching Session: Conduct the teaching session with a group of three or more individuals.Ensure that your presentation is clear, engaging, and accessible to your audience. Use the teaching methods and materials outlined in your plan. Record the Session: Record the entire teaching session on video. The video should capture both your presentation and the interaction with your audience. Ensure the video quality is sufficient for viewing and evaluating your performance. Video Length: The video should be 15-20 minutes in length, covering the full scope of your teaching plan. Submission: Submit the video along with your teaching plan through the course’s online platform by the specified due date. FINAL PROJECT REPORT: In addition to the teaching plan and video presentation, submit a final report that includes: Reflection: Write a 1-2 page reflection on the teaching experience. Discuss what went well, any challenges you encountered, and how you addressed them. Reflect on what you learned from the experience and how it will influence your future practice as a nurse educator. Audience Feedback: Summarize the feedback you received from your audience and discuss how it aligns with your own evaluation of the session’s effectiveness. Self-Evaluation: Provide a self-evaluation of your performance based on the objectives and evaluation plan. Identify areas for improvement and how you would approach the teaching session differently in the future. Requirements SUBMISSION GUIDELINES A. Format Requirement: The teaching plan and final report should be well-organized, typed in a clear, legible font (such as Times New Roman, 12-point), and submitted as a Word document or PDF. B. Video Format Requirement: The video should be in a commonly accepted format (such as MP4 or MOV) and uploaded to the course’s online platform. Ensure that the video file is properly named and accessible for review. C. Due Date Requirement: The completed project, including the teaching plan, video presentation, and final report, must be submitted by the specified due date. Use of Teaching Methods: Appropriate use of teaching methods and materials as outlined in the plan. Audience Interaction: Successful interaction with the audience, including addressing questions and facilitating discussion. C. Final Report (20 Points) Reflection: Thoughtful and insightful reflection on the teaching experience. Audience Feedback and Self-Evaluation: Accurate summary of feedback and self-assessment with identified areas for improvement.
