Prepare and deliver a 5-7 minute extemporaneous speech in which you make an argument related to the topic you chose for your informative speech. You must attempt to persuade your classmates to take up or support a cause related to this topic. For example, if you informed your classmates about the history of the automobile in your informative speech, you could then argue for a law to be passed that would raise the speed limit to 80 miles per hour on California’s highways in your persuasive speech. Alternatively, if informed your classmates about a nonprofit organization that you support in your informative speech, you could then attempt to persuade your classmates to volunteer with or donate to that organization in your persuasive speech. You are required to prepare and submit two types of outlines for your speech on Canvas before class begins on the first day of persuasive speech deliveries, F, 11/15: Working Outline (Preparation Outline) - Purpose: This is a detailed outline that will help you fully develop your speech content. Format: Write this outline in complete sentences. It should include everything you plan to say during your speech. Content: Ensure that your working outline covers the full structure of your speech, including the introduction, body, and conclusion, with detailed information for each section. Citations: Include in-text citations within the outline where you reference sources. At least two scholarly journal articles should be cited. References: At the end of the working outline, provide a reference page listing all sources cited, formatted in APA or MLA style.
