please respond to sherry with 150. words Hey everyone, I'm Sherry , and I work in emergency management down in Alabama. I’ve been in public safety for over 26 years, starting out in the fire service before finding my real passion in emergency management and planning. Right now, I serve as the Director of Plans and Operations at Mobile County EMA. The biggest part of my job is making sure our plans actually work when we need them. That means a lot of collaboration with our first responders, community groups, and local partners. Building strong relationships is everything in this field—especially when the pressure’s on. I’m really excited about this class because research plays such a huge role in the projects we do, like our hazard mitigation plan. A big part of that work is reaching out to the community and stakeholders to get their feedback, and this class will help me design better ways to collect and use that information. It’s not just about filling out forms—it’s about making sure people’s voices are part of the plan. I’m hoping to get more comfortable with research methods so I can back up our planning decisions with solid data and analysis. It’ll be nice to build plans that not only check the boxes, but actually make a difference during real-world emergencies. For a quick current event, FEMA recently rolled out a waiver that simplifies parts of the hazard mitigation planning process. It's a big deal for communities like ours because it helps cut through some of the red tape and lets us stay focused on real risks. Looking forward to learning with all of you this term. Thanks
