Introduction Since becoming legalized in 2012, online gambling (daily fantasy sports, poker, sports betting, class III-type gaming, etc.) has become an increasingly important revenue stream for many companies. The last ten years also witnessed significant changes in state and federal law concerning online gambling. However, this legalization has not come without its issues; as is usual with policy related to emerging technology, it has not kept pace. For example, in late 2018, the Department of Justice announced a rather surprising change of position concerning its interpretation of the federal Wire Act. Hence, it is important for us to visit the Wire Act and review the history of online gambling. Another growing trend, with high expectations as a potential revenue stream, is eSports. It is spreading in popularity worldwide. In the last few years, we have witnessed major companies such as MGM and Caesars embracing eSports. The arrival of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) also have had a significant impact on the worlds of entertainment and gaming. Now, searching for alternative events and ways to deliver products and services amid the coronavirus pandemic and evolving consumer behavior, some operators might be more willing to embrace eSports as well as VR and AR. Search the Web and the Library Resources for news articles and/or trade journals and identify a recent article (published in the last 12 months) that focus on eSports gambling trends, or applications of VR/AR in gambling.
