In your description, name the theory, describe what it explains, mention the founder/propounded/researcher. Remember the role of theory is to explain a phenomenon. The theory does this after the researcher has conducted several experiments and has drawn specific conclusions. Each theory helps us to understand everyday situations more fully. Therefore in your explanation for your theory, you need to explain the everyday situation that each specific theory will help us to understand. In Chapter Six one of the theories is the inoculation theory. Therefore for example, if one of your theories of choice is the inoculation theory, you say that the inoculation theory explains how some politicians use it to preempt messages from their competitors to prevent their competitors’ messages from taking effect. Or you could say that the theory helps us to understand how preemptive messages work in damage control.
