Historical Tweet Assignment Please answer using easy standard English words Tha ...

Historical Tweet Assignment Please answer using easy standard English words Thank you in advance Assignment Objectives: Assignment Prompt: ? To demonstrate your familiarity with the course materials: lectures, PowerPoint slides, textbook chapters, and assigned primary and secondary sources ? To determine the significance of a historical figure (or organization) by explaining how their life was reflective of major themes and developments in the history of the post-Civil War U.S. ? To improve your formal writing skills by better understanding the instructor's expectations regarding argumentation, organization, use of evidence, grammar, and style For better or for worse, Twitter and other forms of social media have become an integral part of American life by changing how politicians interact with their constituents, how art and culture are disseminated to the public, how businesses market themselves and their products, and how ideas and news reach their intended (and unintended) audiences. Although Twitter was not launched until 2006, we might think about how past generations would have used this form of communication had it been available to them. Your task, then, is to choose an individual (or organization) that we have encountered in our readings through the first six units of the semester and write a hypothetical tweet that they might have sent if Twitter had been available in the late-nineteenth or early-twentieth century. The requirements of the assignment are as follows: ? Include a short, single-spaced heading at the top of the first page of the paper with your name, course title (HIST 2020), assignment title (Historical Tweet Assignment), and date. ? Create a tweet and paste it to the first page of your Word document so that it is centered under your heading. Your historical tweet should look like a real one: the sender should have a username and profile photo, the tweet should be no more than 280 characters, and the tweet should be timestamped with a date that corresponds with the years that the sender was alive. You can create a historical tweet using an online “fake tweet generator." ? The second page of the paper will contain two well-written paragraphs, both of which will be double-spaced. These two paragraphs combined should be at least a page in length. ? Begin the first paragraph at the very top of the second page of the paper, and explain the decisions that you made when writing a piece of “Twitterature” that has its own genre conventions. Who authored the tweet that you have posted on the first page of the paper, and what did this individual accomplish during his or her lifetime? In what year and historical context was the tweet sent, and what precise message does the tweet convey? Who is the author of the tweet addressing, and what specific language—including slang, abbreviations, hashtags, etc.—did they use to ensure that their message would reach its intended audience? In other words, you should convincingly explain why the tweet was constructed in the manner that it is presented to the reader, and you should cite at least one source in this paragraph. ? In the second paragraph, explain how the historical figure that you have selected and the tweet that you have created might help us better understand the major ideas and themes that we have discussed in class so far this semester. What is the significance of this individual (or organization) and the message conveyed in your hypothetical tweet? What does this historical figure tell us about the people, events, and developments that shaped the post-Civil War U.S.? This paragraph provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned in the course so far by describing these important historical developments. You should cite at least one source in this paragraph as you explain the significance of the historical figure that you have selected. Formatting Requirements: Citations: ? The margins of the paper should be one inch on all sides. ? Include page numbers that are centered at the bottom of each page. ? Use 12-point, “Times New Roman” font in the body of the paper. Your paper does not require a Works Cited or Bibliography as long as it contains accurate footnote citations. However, you are expected to use Chicago Style footnote citations whenever you draw information or a direct quote from a primary or secondary source. These citations should be properly formatted in 10-point, “Times New Roman” font, and they should include the appropriate page number (if available) from where you took a quote or information: HIST 2020 – How to Insert Footnotes into an Academic Paper A footnote consists of two elements: a superscript number in the body of the paper and a corresponding “note” at the bottom of the page. To insert footnotes into a Word document, place the cursor at the end of a sentence in which you have drawn a quote or information from another source, go to the “References” tab, and then click on “Insert Footnote.”1 As you can see, Microsoft Word will insert both the superscript at the end of the sentence and the corresponding numbered footnote at the bottom of the page, although you will have to type the correct citation information into the note itself. In this paragraph, I have already inserted one footnote, and if I were to insert a second one at the end of this sentence, Word will automatically number the next footnote for me.2 I am asking you to use Chicago Style footnotes in your written assignments for HIST 2020. Because you might not be familiar with Chicago Style (and because I would rather see you focus more on the quality of your writing than on your citations), I have listed on the next page the correct citation information for all of the sources that you might use in your Historical Tweet Assignment. Here is how you can use this citation information: find the source on the next page that you wish to cite in your paper, and simply copy and paste the citation into the footnote at the bottom of the page. For example, if I was citing Henry McNeal Turner’s “On the Eligibility of Colored Members to Seats in the Georgia Legislature,” I would copy and paste the Turner citation information into my footnote so that it would look like the one at the end of this sentence.3 Likewise, if I was borrowing an example or idea from page 215 of The American Yawp textbook, I would simply change the page number in the Locke and Wright citation information as I copied and pasted it into a footnote like the one at the end of this sentence.4 Here are a few additional reminders when inserting footnotes into your paper: A footer is not the same as a footnote. If you are typing citation information into a footer, you are formatting your citations incorrectly, as they will show up at the bottom of each page of your paper. Instead, follow the directions above regarding how to insert footnotes into a Word document. Pay attention to the formatting of your footnotes. Footnotes should be in a size-10 font, and they should be in the same “Times New Roman” style as the body of your paper. In addition, the first line of each footnote should be indented so they resemble the notes at the bottom of this page. As you can see, there is proper punctuation at the end of each note, there are no unnecessary spaces between words or individual footnotes, and the footnotes are presented in a professional manner. If you cite the same source multiple times in a paper, a shortened version of a citation (i.e., the author’s last name and an abbreviated title) should be used after the first time you cite that source. The footnote at the end of this sentence contains a shortened version of Turner’s “On the Eligibility of Colored Members to Seats in the Georgia Legislature” because this source was previously cited in footnote #3.5 Provide accurate citations every time that you draw information from another author or source. —---------------------------------------------- 1 This is an example of a footnote. Notice how the note is numbered and corresponds to the superscript “1” in the body of the text above. In addition, pay attention to the formatting of note: unlike the body of the paper (which is font size “12”), the font size here is “10.” However, the footnote should be presented in the same “Times New Roman” font as the rest of the paper, so be sure to format the note correctly. 2 Your footnotes should be numbered chronologically (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) from the beginning to the end of the paper. 3 Henry McNeal Turner, “On the Eligibility of Colored Members to Seats in the Georgia Legislature,” speech, September 3, 1868. 4 Joseph L. Locke and Ben Wright, eds., The American Yawp, Volume 2: Since 1877 (Stanford University Press, 2019), 215. 5 Turner, “On the Eligibility of Colored Members.” 2 Citation Information for Historical Tweet Assignment Listed below are the sources that you might use in your paper. For each entry, I have provided the appropriate Chicago Style footnote citation if you were citing the first page (if applicable) of that particular source. If you cite the textbook or one of the secondary sources, then you need to change the page number so that the reader knows where you found the information that you are citing. Secondary sources (academic articles and book chapters): Richard Maxwell Brown, “Western Violence: Structure, Values, Myth,” Western Historical Quarterly 24, no. 1 (February 1993), 4. Olivier Zunz, Making America Corporate, 1870-1920 (Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 1990), 126. Primary sources: Henry McNeal Turner, “On the Eligibility of Colored Members to Seats in the Georgia Legislature,” speech, September 3, 1868. The Birth of a Nation, directed by D.W. Griffith (David W. Griffith Corp., 1915). Albert J. Beveridge, “The March of the Flag,” address to Indiana Republican Meeting, September 16, 1898. Jacob Riis, How the Other Half Lives (New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1890). Populist Party Platform, July 4, 1892. Myron R. Stowell, “Fort Frick,” or the Siege of Homestead (Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh Printing Company, 1893), 37. Textbooks: Joseph L. Locke and Ben Wright, eds., The American Yawp, Volume 1: Before 1877 (Stanford University Press, 2019), 1. Joseph L. Locke and Ben Wright, eds., The American Yawp, Volume 2: Since 1877 (Stanford University Press, 2019), 1. PowerPoint slides (you do not have to include the name or number of individual slides in your footnote): Daniel Berkhout. “What Is the Importance of Studying the Past?” Lecture. Southeast Community College. January 2024. Daniel Berkhout. “Reconstructions of the American South.” Lecture. Southeast Community College. January 2024. Daniel Berkhout. “Violence in the American West and Abroad.” Lecture. Southeast Community College. February 2024. Daniel Berkhout. “Big Business and Organized Labor in the Post-Civil War U.S.” Lecture. Southeast Community College. February 2024. Daniel Berkhout. “Populism in the 1890s.” Lecture. Southeast Community College. February 2024. Daniel Berkhout. “Progressivism at Home.” Lecture. Southeast Community College. February 2024. —---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Academic Integrity: According to the Academic Integrity guidelines in the Student Code of Conduct, students are expected to maintain complete honesty and integrity in their academic experiences at SCC. Violations of these expectations may result in penalties up to and/or including expulsion from the college. Examples of academic dishonesty include, but are not limited to, the following: ? Taking information from or supplying information to other students during an exam ? Copying material from unpublished and published sources without proper attribution ? Overusing quotations in a written work ? Paraphrasing another author’s words without appropriate citations ? Misrepresenting the work of others as one’s own ? Misrepresenting personal circumstances to avoid meeting academic responsibilities ? Turning in written work which has previously been submitted in other courses ? Relying on an A.I. chatbot to produce all or portions of a paper The work that you present must be your own, and your paper should contain proper citations when you draw information from the assigned primary and secondary sources. Additional Reminders for a Successful Paper: ? An “A” paper will contain at least two citations and will include a direct quote from one of our assigned readings. You should cite two different sources that we have encountered so far this semester, such as the textbook, our primary and secondary source readings, and the PowerPoint slides. You should not cite any online sources, as the course materials contain more than enough information to write an effective paper. ? Avoid the use of long quotes. The best quotes are those that are several words in length that capture specific, unique language employed by other authors which cannot be summarized or paraphrased without losing some essential meaning of the original quote. A direct quote from a primary or secondary source should not be more than a single line in length, as you can otherwise paraphrase this language and seamlessly insert it into the narrative of your paper. ? When writing about an event that occurred in the past, use the past tense. However, when writing about an argument or explanation put forth by another author (e.g., “Richard Maxwell Brown argues...”), use the present tense. ? Provide strong transitions between paragraphs and between ideas within individual paragraphs. Do not use subheadings to split up your paragraphs. The reader should be able to follow the narrative logic of your paper simply by reading your detailed topic sentences and clear transitions between ideas and paragraphs. ? Do not repeat the same information over and over again. The length of this paper is short, and you should not waste your time or the reader’s time rehashing the same idea throughout the narrative that you have created. Each sentence in the paper should provide the reader with a new thought, idea, piece of evidence, argument, etc. ? Be sure to carefully proofread your paper to eliminate any grammar and style issues. Think about the overall presentation of your paper. Does it look professional, or does it contain misspellings, punctuation errors, and formatting mistakes that are distracting to the reader? ? Be as precise and as detailed in your writing as possible. Assume that your reader has a working knowledge of U.S. history, but avoid broad or unspecific language. In other words, the reader should not constantly be asking the traditional reporter questions (i.e., who?, what?, where?, when?, why?, and how?) after every sentence or paragraph of your paper. The best paragraphs are those which develop focused, self-contained thoughts that speak to the overall argument of the paper. ? Be creative. This assignment asks you to use your imagination to think about the past and express those thoughts through the genre conventions of Twitter. The tweet that you produce does not have to be written in the language and style of individuals living around the turn of the twentieth century, but can instead employ modern slang and phrases that we might expect to see when browsing Twitter or other forms of social media today.

As leaders, we become skilled in forging (using more) and tethering (using less) our emotional intelligence skills based on the people we engage, the space and place where we engage, and the context of the engagement. Select ONE (and only one) of the five emotional intelligence skills and state whether you are forging or tethering that skill while you implement your Leadership Practicum Project. Explain why forging or tethering this particular skill is needed by including a connection between the skill and the people, place, and/or context. Week 2 Activity - Healthcare Finance Questions Due: Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:00amDue: Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:00am Ungraded, 90 Possible Points90 Points Possible Attempt In Progress NEXT UP: Submit Assignment Add Comment Unlimited Attempts Allowed Available after Jun 30, 2024 12:00amAvailable after Jun 30, 2024 12:00am Details Overview This activity will help prepare you for the assignment in Week 3. For this activity, you will choose an organization to research and create questions to ask as part of that research. Instructions For the Week 3 Assignment, you will be expected to investigate the financial condition of a health services organization (HSO) of your choosing. In preparation for the Week 3 Assignment, you are expected to submit a Microsoft Word document explicitly addressing the following: Utilizing the Strayer Library or other credible sources, you are to identify an HSO. Once identified, in a paragraph, share the name of the organization and provide a high-level overview of what kind of organization it is (e.g., home health, hospice, tertiary care facility, long-term care, subacute care, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, etc.) and the segments of the population that it supports. You will want to be sure there is plenty of information available about the organization, particularly financial information. This means you'll likely need to choose a large organization that is required to make financials public. One of the best ways to understand a company's financial health is to review its financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement. These statements provide information about the company's assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, and cash flow. You can typically find these statements in a company's annual report if non-profit. For publicly traded HSOs, regulatory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) can provide additional information about the company's financial performance, management, and risks. These filings include the annual report, 10-K, 10-Q, and proxy statement To gain a better understanding of the financial condition of your chosen health services organization, its budget preparation process, and fiscal planning strategies, you will develop five questions that you will answer as part of your investigation. Ideally, these would be questions you would ask a management official responsible for the financial planning of the organization. It is important that you provide a brief explanation for why you chose to include each of the 5 questions. Think about questions that will give you greater insight into what the company looks for when preparing their annual budget, their fiscal planning strategies, and how they monitor their financial condition throughout the year and make necessary adjustments. Optional: You may also choose to use these questions to interview a financial manager within a healthcare organization. The interview would then be the source of your information instead of the research.
