In the Week 3 paper, you discussed controversial treatments that are evidence based. In this assignment, you will be considering controversial interventions that are not evidence based. These treatments are not behavior analytic in nature and therefore, cannot be recommended by a BCBA. Numerous controversial treatments are promoted for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Almost all behavior analysts agree that these treatments lack sufficient empirical support. These treatments include facilitated communication, sensory integration, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, elimination diets, chelation therapy, floortime, and more. Conduct an Internet search for information on one of the topics mentioned above. If you would like to choose a topic not listed, first message your instructor for approval to be sure it is not evidence based. Also research the treatment in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis?or other professional ABA journals. Use the Controversial Treatments Template [DOCX] to complete the following: Describe a controversial treatment using information from at least one reputable source. Discuss at least one pro statement that supports the use of the treatment. These may come from experts, therapists, parents, or others. Also, discuss at least one con statement that opposes or refutes the treatment. Summarize these statements and evaluate your findings. Discuss at least three relevant BACB ethics codes. Explain how to effectively evaluate treatments to determine if they are evidence based or not looking at the 7 Dimensions of ABA. Explain in your conclusion how you would discuss the importance of using evidence-based strategies with colleagues and the families with whom you work while also respecting other professions and the people involved.

Students should provide evidence of gaining knowledge and making sense of new information.
In Module Two, you will submit a description of the topic you will focus on for the final project and a preliminary research question that will guide your paper. You will also submit a list of search terms that you will use to find peer-reviewed articles on your topic in the Shapiro Library’s electronic databases. Your paper must include the following elements: The topic you are planning to focus on for the final project Choose a topic that is workable, reasonably simple to consider, and something of interest to you. Please remember that research proposals that ask questions about diagnosable mental health disorders, suicide, or abuse of any kind will not be allowed, as these topics may be triggering for some students. A list of search terms related to your topic that you plan to use to find peer-reviewed articles for your final project Using Shapiro Library’s electronic databases will yield your best results. A preliminary research question based on your chosen topic It is understood that your research question will likely change and evolve as you read the literature on your topic, but it is important to have a research question to guide your reading. Please note that you will receive feedback from your instructor in this milestone along with Milestones Two and Three. This feedback will guide your research question. This feedback should be used to provide revisions in Milestones Two and Three.
Identify the topic: (I uploaded my research topic/question in the document below, thanks) Find the gap in the literature What is the problem that exists in the research that needs to be filled? What is current research saying we need to know? State this problem in paragraph form Purpose Statement Include the rationale for the study including the gaps in the research this study will be filling. Explain the goals and objectives of the research study If quantitative, provide and independent and dependent variable and link the IV and DV together in the form of a hypothesis If qualitative, form the research question that the gap will address
All research requires data analysis that results in reportable findings. Data analysis procedures for quantitative research should describe the data-collection plan for each variable or group. It should also include a description of the type of data to be collected along with the statistical analyses anticipated. The research analysis needs to align with the research design. A detailed description of the relevant data collected for each stated research question and each variable within each hypothesis (if applicable) is needed. The what, why, and how should be addressed. Which statistical and non-statistical analysis and procedures will be used to conduct the data analysis? Why will these statistical and nonstatistical data analyses be used? How do these data analysis techniques align with the research question and design? Demonstrate that the quantity and quality of the data are sufficient to answer the research questions. Chapter 8 of the Creswell text provides exemplars of research plans for each of the quantitative designs. Overview This assessment is a draft of the Methodology and Procedures section of your Concept Paper Project. You will use scholarly literature and the course text to define and describe the methodology and research design. You will also identify and discuss the instruments needed to conduct this potential study, the data collection methods, and the data analysis process. Preparation Before beginning the assessment: Ensure that you have identified the quantitative research design that is the most appropriate for your research topic; that is, descriptive, experimental, or quasi-experimental. Ask why this research design is the best for addressing your research topic. Also, think about how the methodology, and research design inform the instruments needed, the data collection methods, and the data analysis. Watch the interactive learning activities. Instructions Use the Concept Paper Project Instructions [DOCX] for complete instructions for this assignment. Refer to the Methodology and Procedures section. Use the Concept Paper Project Template [DOCX] to complete the assignment. You will be graded on the following: Define and describe quantitative research. Identify, define, and describe the research design. Provide a detailed discussion of the instrumentation including the data collection procedures. Describe the data analysis procedures Convey purpose in an appropriate tone style, incorporating supporting evidence and adhering to organizational, professional, and scholarly writing standards.
The first attachment has Chapter 30 inside the word document all the way at the bottom to use as reference to write the paper. I also included the grading rubric and the previous paper with my professors feedback comments.
Genogram Project Students will complete a three-generation genogram on their own family. The genogram should include labels (e.g., traits, characteristics, values), ages, names, significant dates (e.g., major family events and transitions, such as immigration, marriage, death, trauma, anti-racism), relational lines (e.g., types of relationships with others, such as distance, conflict, affiliations), and other important information (e.g., family patterns, addiction, mental health issues).
Collaborative documentation is crucial for mental health and wellness professionals, as it fosters transparent communication, promotes shared decision making, and enhances the quality of care by involving clients in their treatment process. Write an essay that addresses the prompts below. In addition to the topic resources, incorporate with a minimum of three peer-reviewed scholarly sources in your essay. Describe?the essential elements needed to document a service. Describe?collaborative documentation standards and the benefits of using this approach in your respected area of mental health and wellness. Be certain to clarify the setting collaborative documentation is being applied to (i.e., hospital, crisis center).
Overview Once you have designed and implemented a behavior intervention support plan, it’s important to determine the efficacy of your plan. For this assignment, identify which data collection method is the most appropriate for the client’s case. This method will be used to monitor data during the implementation of the behavior plan. Instructions Use the following headings formatted in current APA style to organize your assignment: Data Collection Method: Explain the process of measurement you will use to track the progress of your case study. Remember, this is NOT ABC data collection. Instead, choose a data collection method to utilize while the behavior plan is being implemented. Within your assignment, speak to the following: Which data collection method did you choose? Why did you choose that method? Why were other options ruled out? Ensure you speak to the environmental aspects contributing to your decision. Be sure to support your decision with at least one scholarly or professional resource. Data Display: Select an appropriate form of visual display of behavioral data (choose from line graphs, bar graphs, cumulative records, semilogarithmic charts, or scatterplots) from which valid and reliable decisions are best analyzed in your case study. Identify a format to visually display the data. Discuss why you choose this one and ruled out other options. Please be sure your graph includes baseline as well as intervention data. Be sure to support your decision with at least one scholarly or professional resource. Data-Based Decisions: Discuss how to use the graph and data to make data-based decisions. Explain how the chosen graph will assist in the decision-making process. Be sure to support your decision with at least one scholarly or professional resource.
Good Morning! I hope you're doing well. I need help with last assignment for this class and below please find assignment details. Please don't forgot to select a title (short one). This assignment assesses the following Course Outcomes: PS526-3: Synthesize current studies in addictions research to analyze and plan appropriate professional interventions. PS526-4: Critique case studies that contain ethical, legal, and sociocultural issues using the code of ethics for addictions counseling. For this assignment, read and analyze the Case Study of Mary below for ethical, legal, and sociocultural issues, and write a 6-8-page essay developing a thorough diagnosis and treatment plan for her, considering culture and development of therapeutic alliance in the case. Case Study: Mary You are a mental health professional in a community mental health center. At the urging of her friend, Mary has come in for an individual evaluation. Mary is a 24-year-old single African American woman who has been living with her boyfriend Max for the last five years. Both Mary and Max have consistently used heroin for the last five years as well. Mary reported that she has never received any substance or mental health counseling before. Mary also denies any criminal history as well as any history of suicidal or homicidal ideation, intent, or plan. When Mary was 8 years old, her father left her mother and her two younger siblings and she never saw him again. Mary reported that her father was an alcoholic and her mother is a recovering alcoholic. At about 12 years old Mary reported that she started drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. At 16 years old she dropped out of high school, and at 19 years old she moved in with Max. He introduced her to heroin. She reported that she uses about ½ gram of heroin per day just to be able to function and feel comfortable. In order to pay for the heroin and pay her rent, Mary is a prostitute in the evening. Max does not work at all. Mary advises you that she usually drinks four or five beers each night before she goes out to work. If she cannot get heroin she advises you that she will “score” Valium, Xanax™ or Klonopin™ to “tide me over until I can score some H.” She said that she tried cocaine but “did not like the high.” Mary tells you that alcohol and heroin help to calm her nerves and get her through the day. She also reported that she and Max are not having sex much at all. When they do have sex, he never uses a condom. He says that’s what makes him different from one of her “Johns” and Mary confirms that she will not work without her customers using a condom. Mary tells you that she notices that lately her breasts have become swollen and tender, and she has not had her period in the last 12 weeks. She is pretty sure that she is pregnant and believes that it is Max’s baby. She said that she is not sure that she can stop using drugs and alcohol or work to have the baby even though Max wants her to keep the baby if she is pregnant. She has not seen a medical doctor, as she has no medical insurance. Her friend who works with her at night told her not to stop using drugs if she’s pregnant because “it would be worse for the baby.” Mary is very confused about what she should do and is asking for your help to assist her in making some decisions. Include the following in your essay: Discuss the biological, psychological, and social factors that need to be considered prior to treatment. Describe the cultural factors that need to be considered prior to treatment. Provide a DSM–5-TR diagnosis for Mary and discuss/support your choice of a diagnosis. Describe the treatment and theoretical approaches discussed thus far in the course that you would recommend for Mary. Explain your rationale and the expected strengths and weaknesses of this approach for Mary’s case. Critique the legal, ethical, and sociocultural issues found in the NAADAC/NCC AP Code of Ethics which you would consider in this case.
