This week you will build on the simple logistic regression analysis did last week. You will use the same two variables (one independent variable and one dependent variable) you used in your SPSS analysis last week and add a second independent variable to the analysis. How has your statistical significance and odds ratio changed by the introduction of the second independent variable? To prepare for this Assignment: Use the one independent variable and one dependent variable you used to conduct your simple logistic regression analysis in Week 4. Add a second independent variable to your analysis (multiple logistic regression). Remember that your dependent variable must be dichotomous/binary. Think about how you might use the odds ratio in your analysis to simplify the interpretation of your results. How has your statistical significance and odds ratio changed by the introduction of the second independent variable? The Assignment Use SPSS to answer the research question you constructed. Write an analysis in APA format, including title page, references, and an appendix, that includes your data output and addresses each of the tasks listed above. The content should be 2–3 pages, including setup of the assignment and a discussion of whether the predictive relationship is statistically significant as well as the odds ratio and what it means. Your SPSS output should be included as an appendix. Early in your Assignment, when you relate which dataset you analyzed, please include the mean of the following variables. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age). If you are using the General Social Survey Dataset, report the mean of Age. If you are using the HS Long Survey Dataset, report the mean of X1SES. See page 1032 in your Warner textbook for an excellent APA-compliant write-up of a binary logistic regression analysis.

Discrete Random Variable Infographic What makes a function of a discrete variab ...

Discrete Random Variable Infographic What makes a function of a discrete variable a candidate for a discrete random variable distribution? What about the counterpart of this candidacy in the case of a continuous variable? Respond to these questions by visually communicating your responses in an infographic. Tips on Designing an Infographic Build an infographic and attach a written summary for items which cannot fit on the infographic. An information graphic (infographic) is a visual representation of a data set or instructive material. Infographics take a large amount of information in text (or numerical form) and then condense it into a combination of images and text highlights. This modern data transformation technique allows viewers to quickly grasp essential insights about a specific subject. Review this ten-minute video (link below) to see what elements go into creating an effective infographic. It will provide some background on how to complete your assignment for this week. Get as creative as possible, and design a well-organized, easy to understand infographic. You can visit Piktochart, Canva, Venngage, and Visme online for infographic examples, tips on how to create them, and templates. Share your completed infographic in GAP. Be sure to share the file in a format your instructor can view such as PDF. Search the help section of the tool you chose to use to find out the options for downloading, sharing, and publishing your infographic. Growth Rate Activity - CLO 1, CLO 2, CLO 3, CLO 4 In an article in the Journal of Retailing, Kumar, Kerwin, and Pereira noted factors affecting merger and acquisition activity in retailing. As part of the study, the authors compared the characteristics of “target firms” (firms targeted for acquisition) and “bidder firms” (firms attempting to make acquisitions). Among the variables studied in the comparison were earnings per share, debt-to-equity ratio, growth rate of sales, market share, and extent of diversification. Let ? be the mean growth rate of sales for all target firms (firms that have been targeted for acquisition in the last five years and that have not bid on other firms), and assume growth rates are approximately normally distributed. Furthermore, suppose a random sample of 25 target firms yields a sample mean sales growth rate of 0.16 with a standard deviation of 0.12. Use critical values and this sample information to test H0: ? = .10 versus Ha: ? >.10 by setting ? equal to .10, .05, .01, and .001. How much evidence is there that the mean growth rate of sales for target firms exceeds .10 (that is, exceeds 10 percent)? Now let ? be the mean growth rate of sales for all firms that are bidders (firms that have bid to acquire at least one other firm in the last five years), and again assume growth rates are approximately normally distributed. Furthermore, suppose a random sample of 25 bidders yields a sample mean sales growth rate of 0.12 with a standard deviation of 0.09. Use critical values and this sample information to test H0: ? = .10 versus Ha: ? > .10 by setting ? equal to .10, .05, .01, and .001. How much evidence is there that the mean growth rate of sales for bidders exceeds .10 (that is, exceeds 10 percent)?

Instructions Is a Teaspoon of Sugar Really a Teaspoon? A scientist studying consumption of sugar, its effects, and links to things like Diabetes and weight gain is performing a study on sugar intake in things like coffee and tea. She and her team are interested in the number of servings and if in fact each serving is providing the expected quantity that the person consuming the beverage believes. The team has been studying the various distributions from things like sugar packets and is now looking at servings of sugar from teaspoons. If 4.2 grams of sugar is equal to a teaspoon (which is considered one serving), the team is studying a particular restaurant that provides teaspoons to customers during breakfast and allows them to add sugar to their beverages. The team collects data from two (2) different types of spoons (both considered teaspoons) which have differing shapes to identify if there is a difference in the variation between the servings per teaspoon a customer puts into their cup or glass. The results of randomly selected customers are shown in table 1 below. Table 1: Weight in Grams of Sugar per serving Spoon Type 1 Spoon Type 2 4.23 4.14 4.01 4.17 4.29 4.15 4.35 4.26 4.06 4.35 4.05 4.2 4.15 4.05 3.75 4.25 4.19 4.32 4.41 4.11 4.52 4.21 4.37 4.25 4.21 4.31 4.05 4.02 4.12 4.28 4.14 At the 10% level of significance, is there a difference between the serving variations when customers used spoon type 1 as compared to spoon type 2? Please make sure you use the assignment template and follow the example provided from the Chapter 10 assignment solution as a guide to what I expect to see.

Earlier this week, you practiced using factorial ANOVA models with SPSS and, ideally, used the Collaboration Lab to ask, answer, and otherwise address any questions you had. In this Assignment, you apply what you learned to answer a social research question using factorial ANOVA. To prepare for this Assignment: Review the datasets provided. Construct a research question with social change implications based on one of those datasets. Be sure to focus on the assumptions of this test and ask yourself, “Does it make sense to interpret the mean of this dependent variable?” Remember that you will need categorical predictor variable. The AssignmentUse SPSS to answer the research question you constructed. Write an analysis in APA format, including title page, references, and an appendix, that includes your data output and addresses each of the tasks listed below. The content should be 2–3 pages, including setup of the assignment, results, and interpretation of results. Your SPSS output should be included as an appendix. What is the null hypothesis for your question? What research design(s) would align with this question? What dependent variable was used and how is it measured? What independent variable is used and how is it measured? If you found significance, what is the strength of the effect? What is the answer to your research question? What are the possible implications of social change? Early in your Assignment, when you relate which dataset you analyzed, please include the mean of the following variables. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age). If you are using the General Social Survey Dataset, report the mean of Age. If you are using the HS Long Survey Dataset, report the mean of X1SES. See pages 533 and 534 in your Warner textbook for an excellent APA-compliant write-up of a factorial analysis of variance.
