Question 1 Using the skills you learned in weeks 1 and 2 evaluate a set of statistics. An Excel spreadsheet is attached including 30 data sets representing the height and weight of 14 year old boys. The first column is the height in inches and the second the weight in pounds. Choose one data set that has not already been selected (include the number of the data set in your title to make this easier to do). Calculate the mean, median and mode of the weights in the data set. You can either do this by hand or see the video below to show you how to do this using the tools in Excel. Then, explain what these numbers mean. Are they the same? Why are they different? Then, construct a scatter plot. From the insert menu select scatter or the chart that says scatter and then select the chart at the top left on the dropdown Click on one of the points Select Add Trendline (Note you may need to add Trendline and then click on the line to format Trendline) The default radio button is linear, keep it checked What are your observations from the scatter plot? Does it appear that there is a correlation between the height and weight of 14 yr old boys. Note: this data is made up, so do you think this is accurate? Do you think given real data that there would be a greater amount of correlation or less? If you have a different version of excel then you may want to search to see how to form a trendline. These instructions work with Office 365 and Office 2010. Attach your excel worksheet with your scatter plot For the title of your post use your last name and the data set that you selected (Example: Smith - Data Set #51). Be sure to comment on at least 2 classmates. You could discuss other times that this visualization would be useful? Or what other visualizations could be useful in this scenario? How do you choose?
Please review the Final Project Assessment Submit any questions you have about the assignment, any thoughts about what you might be interested in creating, or data you might be interested in exploring. You can also include thoughts related to what you are excited about and anything that might intimidate you related to this assignment.
This assignment asks you to describe situations in which customer segmentation is useful and carry out a customer segmentation exercise using Excel. Please complete this assignment after reading Sauro Chapters 1, 3, and 4. Written Assignment: Describe why it might be useful for an organization to analytically evaluate its customers. You may use a real or hypothetical organization as an example if you’d like. Then, using the customer dateset (attached) please describe a hypothetical analytics initiative that you might be able to carry out using this data. What might you be able to explore? What recommendations might you hope to provide to this organization? What fields (columns) might you use in carrying out this analysis? This response should be approximately 3-5 paragraphs in length. Excel Assignment: Choose one of the below assignments based on your level of comfort and familiarity with Excel. Beginner: After reading about clustering data, please describe how the organizers of this dataset may have arrived at the Spending Scores. Which variables might have influenced these data clusters? Your response should be 1-2 paragraphs in length. Advanced: Chapter 4 of the reading references cluster analysis as an advanced technique that may be used in Customer Analytics. Watch this video and use Solver to identify clusters in the data (NOTE: You will want to remove the “Spending Score” field before conducting this analysis.)
1 . For my project, I hypothesize that athletes who train plyometrics will increase their vertical faster than athletes who just strength train. 2. My two populations in this project are athletes who train through just pylometrics and bodyweigh exercises and athletes who just strength train. Dependent Variable: the increase in vertical jump height over time.
This assignment asks you to conduct a multiple regression analysis using the HR Analytics Datset. If you are unfamiliar with Excel, these will walk you through the required steps to calculate correlation. You may also consult other online resources to help with this assignment. Select one variable from this dataset to be your dependent variables. Select at least two other variables from this dataset to be your independent variable. Choose your variables here wisely. The information we have covered in this class has prepared you to do this only for continuous variables. After selecting your variables, use Excel to run a multiple regression analysis. Provide a 1-2 paragraph interpretation of your results. Please be sure to describe your adjusted R-squared values and the coefficients and p-values for your independent variables. If you were a business manager using this data, how might you use any of this information to have a better understanding of your business?
Final Project Overview Over the course of the semester we will work on analyzing data and creating visuals in a number of different areas related to business, from human resources, to finance, to operations. The Final Project provides you with an opportunity to use a class dataset, or another dataset of your choosing, to dig deeper and suggest data-driven insights. The Final Project will ask you to provide an overview of the data you are using, to describe how you cleaned and formatted that data (in Excel or Tableau), and present information gleaned from the data using both graphs and tables (more information on specific requirements are contained in the below rubric). Additionally, the Final Project asks you to present this information both verbally and visually in a professional manner, enabling an audience member without much or any background knowledge of the data to understand your work and your insights. Final Project Instructions Please submit here a recording (audio over slides or video over slides) of your final presentation. This presentation should be 5-7 minutes in length. Your audience for this presentation includes your peers and instructor. Please see the rubric below Criteria Ratings Pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeOverview of Data CleaningThe student submits a cleaned version of the data. Cleaned data is properly used in tables, plots, and various descriptions throughout the presentation. 10 pts Full Marks 0 pts No Marks 10 pts This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeOverview of Data AnalysisStudents will provide and explain their results using at least three visuals (bar graph, pie chart, scatter plot, etc.) and one table (frequency, cross tabulation, etc.).
