A paper regarding... It's really an easy question, don't let it scare you. I'll simplify: Part One "What is the strongest theory" Part Two "give an example of it in action." That said, use quotes and citations from the assigned readings, and make sure to write an academic essay. Respond to both parts, either in separate academic essays, or combined in one longer paper. Part One: We have looked at a number of ethical theories, central to these are Deontological Ethics (Kant), Teleological Ethics (J.S. Mill), Feminist Ethics, and Virtue Ethics (Aristotle); in addition, we have looked at several other theoretical orientations, the Stoics, St. Paul and St. Augustine, Postmodern theorists (S. Fish), Existential theorists (Camus, Sartre, Nietzsche), and Cosmopolitanism (K.A. Appiah): of the above, what do you think is the strongest theoretical orientation? Make sure to examine WHY you think your chosen theory is the strongest, and in doing so, make sure to include specific references to other theories that expose the weaknesses you see there. I am looking for you to display command of at least the “big three” theorists (Kant, Mill, Aristotle), as well as perhaps, some of the other material. Make sure to use references to back up your claims, including primary sources (use the text book and the readings I have given you throughout the semester). For example, if you chose Aristotle and Virtue Ethics as the best theory, examine what is weak about both Kant and Mill. If you feel that we need more than one theory, this is fine, however you will have to work to justify why. You might talk about the importance of being well versed in all major theoretical orientations, again using examples. 500+ words Part Two: Think about the topics in the applied ethics section of this course (examples including but not limited to: abortion, death penalty, end of life issues, environmental ethics, media ethics, medical issues, ethics and technology, cloning, the food system, water issues, class division, racial relations,) use a topic from this section to explain why the theory you are advocating is the best theory to address this particular issue. 500+ Words link attached are all the assigned readings https://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/greeks.html https://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/athenians.html http://www.dankalia.com/more/taoteching.pdf https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/aristotle-ethics/ Mill, John Stuart: Ethics | Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (utm.edu) Kant, Immanuel | Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (utm.

Don't forget to write your total word count at the end! NO AI USE In recent years, a huge number of people have welcomed AI voice assistants—like Amazon's Alexa—into their homes. Initially, they promised to do basic information retrieval (e.g., fetching the weather report) and to incorporate centralized, always-on voice command into the smart home. But that is just the beginning. As these tools become more sophisticated, companies like Amazon and Google expect them to take on an increasing number and variety of tasks. One area of particular interest is health. For a number of years, data scientists have been exploring what always-on smart speakers can learn and infer about the people they listen to. Initial results indicate that they might be able to determine if someone is having a heart attack or has taken a fall. Recent research suggests they might be able to detect the onset of mental health issues. The goal for Questions 1-2 invite you to think about the ethical implications of using always-on smart assistants as health technologies. Questions 3-4 relate to the article from Helen Nissenbaum. ARTICLE PDF ATTACHED 1. What fairness issue(s) does this case raise? To clarify, how might using Alexa for health care purposes result in unfair outcomes? 2. What privacy issue(s) does this case raise? To clarify, how might using Alexa for health care purposes result in harm to user privacy? 3. From the Nissenbaum article, explain the (normative) “knock-down” argument against protecting privacy in public. Cite a short passage from the reading to support your reasoning. All evidence should be cited using in-text citations. 4. What is Nissenbaum's response to the "knock-down" argument? Be sure to explain what she calls "contextual integrity"? Cite a short passage from the reading to support your reasoning. All evidence should be cited using in-text citations.
