Local Group Participation and Discussion Part 1: As part of this course, you will gain experience as a member of a group by participating in a local support group. Guidelines: Research local support groups that are of interest to you. You may attend any group that you have not attended in the past. For example, if you have attended an AA or NA group in the past, please choose a different group to experience. Contact the group facilitator to make sure it is an open group and you are welcome to attend. Part 2: Reflect on your experience by answering each question below. Apart from question 1, please answer each prompt with at least 10 sentences. What support group did you participate in? What is your opinion of how it went? What counseling theories, skills, or techniques were used during the group meeting/s? Were they useful? How would you improve or redesign the group? Can you assess the value or importance of the group? Was the experience valuable to you? In other words, was it worth your time? How did the group affect you personally?
