It's MSE 550 Advanced Materials Characterization class. Catalog Description A key purpose of this course is to familiarize you with fundamental concepts and terms used in materials characterization. Students will be introduced to analytical instrumentation for the characterization of materials; including SEM, SIMS, Auger, analytical TEM, and other advanced research techniques. The purpose of this assignment is to present a summary of your research into (or literature-search regarding) a particular characterization technique of your choice. I would pick Topic: The Use of SEM in Failure Analysis of Engineering Materials GUIDELINES (for presentation slides): --------------------------------------------- --- You should budget to speak approximately 1 minute per slide. --- So, a 15 minute talk would give you time for 15 slides. 2. Use 16 point font, or larger, for the bullet points on your slides --- 16 point font would be readable on the slide --- it is ok to use a smaller font, e.g., 14 point, for sub-bullets; but do so sparingly. 3.
