Instructions Assignment Purpose This paper gives students an opportunity to evaluate an organization of their choice through the lens of Porters Five Forces Model. It provides students with the chance to take theory and apply it in practice. This paper also strengthens students research and data gathering abilities as it applies to business analysis. Assignment Instructions Porter’s Five Forces is a foundational model for evaluating and scanning the environment. It is used as a primary analysis tool. STEP 1: For the company that you choose in Week1, apply Porter’s Five Forces in a paper. Competitive Rivalry: the strength of competition in the industry. • Supplier Power: the ability of suppliers to drive up the prices of parts and supplies • Buyer Power: the strength of customers to drive down prices. • The Threat of Substitution: the extent to which different products and services can be used in place of your companies • The Threat of New Entry: the ease with which new competitors can enter the market if they see profits STEP 2: Conduct research from valid data sources to evaluate each of the Five Forces outlined above, specific to their impact on your company. STEP 3: In your paper, summarize the highlights of your research and analysis on each of the Five Forces. Step 4: Include a Five Forces diagram (properly cited) in your analysis document. 1. Write a 3-4 page Microsoft Word paper. The goal is to write succinctly and to the point, as if you are reporting to a leadership team. 2. No abstract needed. 3. Formatting and Style Requirements 4.
