Museum Paper - Milestone One - Topic Proposal The Gross Clinic (1875) Artist: Thomas Eakins Style: Realism Origin: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Current Location: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia Medium: Oil on a canvas Liberty Leading the People (1830) Artist: Eugène Delacroix Style: Romanticism Origin: Paris, France Current Location: The Louvre, Paris Medium: Oil on a canvas Justification: I chose The Gross Clinic by Thomas Eakins and Liberty Leading the People by Eugène Delacroix because both of them depict influential and crucial moments in history. Their styles and periods, romanticism and realism, also contrast each other very well, and I believe comparing both these styles will be informative and thought-provoking.
