Post Lab Report EXPERIMENT REPORT DATA AND OBSERVATIONS In your notebook, record the weights of each of your reagents, and any other qualitative observations that occurred during the solution preparation or titrations. CALCULATIONS : Calculate the molarity of your primary standard KIO3 For each standardization titration determine the moles of IO3 - that you titrated, the moles of I3 - that were generated from the KIO3 , and the moles of Na2 S2 O3 that were added to reach the end point. Calculate the molar concentration of Na2 S2 O3 for each titration and the average molar concentration of Na2 S2 O3 solution? For each titration of the vitamin C sample calculate the moles of S2 O3 -2 that were used, the moles of vitamin C in each sample, the weight of vitamin C in each sample, and the percentage of vitamin C in each sample. DISCUSSION : Calculate the average percent of ascorbic acid, C6 H8 O6 in the “tablet.” Calculate the percent relative average deviation in your sodium thiosulfate titrations and in your Vitamin C titrations. Calculate the inherent error in the percentage of ascorbic acid you determined in the tablet. Compare the sum of the relative average deviations with the inherent error. Does your error account for any “impurities” in the vitamin C tablet? If not, why not? CONCLUSION : Summarize your results. Comment on the “purity” you determined and the manufacturer’s label as to the ingredients in a Vitamin C tablet. A PPLICATIONS : Based on the observations and experiment that you carried out explain why cooked fruits and vegetables have a lower vitamin C content than fresh fruits and vegetables. Six ounces (1 fl. oz. = 29.57 mL) of a well–known vegetable juice contains 35% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C (equal to 60 mg). How many milliliters of the vegetable juice will provide 100% of the recommended daily allowance?
