Final Paper For your paper, you will choose one topic in sports and performance psychology. You can select a topic from the ones covered during the semester or a topic we did not cover (for example, cultural considerations, transgender athletes, LGBTQI+ athletes, psychological benefits of exercise and barriers to adherence, youth and sports). You will develop a thesis statement to frame your paper and conduct research to examine your thesis. Your research should include about 8 scientific papers or sources – these can be from book chapters, journal articles, or credible webpages. As part of your preparation for writing your paper, after you read each paper or source, summarize it in your own words. It is helpful to paraphrase the information in your own words while you are taking notes to avoid plagiarism later. If you do take quotes directly from the source, make sure you note the page number as you will need to include the quotation and page number if you use it in your paper. Look specifically for details that support or refute your thesis. The first paragraph of your paper sets the stage for the importance/reader interest in your topic/thesis. End the first paragraph with your thesis statement. The main body of your paper will be your organized and coherent review of the research related to your thesis. Each paragraph should begin with a strong and focused topic sentence. The body of each paragraph will include evidence from your research to support or refute your topic sentence. The last sentence of each paragraph should conclude with the key takeaway from your research. The last paragraph should give an overall summary and conclusion about whether your thesis was supported by the research review or not
