Directions: The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your knowledge of the required course material. Outside sources should not be used. The response to each question needs to be 2-3 well-developed paragraphs in length (250-350 words) and written essentially in your own words. However, at least two appropriate direct quotes from required course material must be integrated into each question’s response. Finally, be sure to use ample supporting examples and evidence from the required course material. UDHR & Historical Development of Global Human Rights: Does it matter that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is not legally binding? What has it contributed to the protection and promotion of global human rights? Finally, how does the UDHR reflect or exemplify the historical development of the various “generations” of human rights as presented by Weston? Please use Chapter 1 in the Global Human Rights text, including the UDHR, and the Weston reading in your response. 2. Civil/Political Rights: The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) has a strong emphasis on judicial process rights as a subset of civil and political rights.
