Each group should write and design a manual that is an imaginary product. The manual should provide instructions about how to use or make this product, following the discussion in Lannon (Chapter 19: Instructions and Procedures). Due Date: Each group should submit only one soft copy to Blackboard on Friday, April 24, before midnight. No hard copies are needed. Emailed work will not be accepted. Please notify group members by email that the assignment has been uploaded. Read the details below carefully to help you do this assignment. Purpose of Assignment The purpose of this assignment is to help students learn to write and design a technical manual. Objectives • • • • The student will be able to know the elements or parts of a manual and their importance in giving instructions. The student will identify the style and the format of a manual. The student will be able to write instructions that illustrate using a particular product. The student will realize the professional importance of a manual in a work place. Instructional Media: Tools and Resources • You will be shown examples and a student sample in class. You will be provided in-class time one week before the assignment is due in order to discuss in groups and search online for necessary required resources. Submission Criteria • One group member will upload only one soft copy of the group manual to Blackboard before the due date. Each group member should be listed on the title page. You should use the following in your manual: Times New Romans, Font Size: 12, single space within paragraph and one white space between paragraphs. Left, right, top, and bottom margins should be 1.2 inches each. Make sure each student’s name is followed by his student number.
