In this assignment, you are  reintroduced to the THS case study which was used in course HIA 610. You  will utilize this case study for this assignment and your final  presentation in this course. In the Transformative Health System (THS)  case study, we see a community health system in a state of  transformation moving from a focus on inpatient care toward ambulatory  home and virtual care. In this assignment, begin to analyze the future  needs of the Transformative Health System relative to expanding upon  their current clinical data repository and developing a data warehouse  including state-of-the-art Business Intelligence (BI) applications that  will enable their executives in decision making. In your paper, Explain the role of the current clinical repository in the THS strategy. Propose  three to five types of transactional database (source) systems used  within THS today that should be added to the current clinical repository  to expand the THS data warehouse strategy. Describe at least  three to five different data elements (basic unit of information) that  are critical in each of the source systems that you propose to expand  the THS data warehouse strategy. Explain the nine documentation  elements for a data dictionary for one of the data elements that you  propose adding to the data warehouse. Refer to Section 5.8.1:  Documenting the Data Elements (data element name or label, alias, type  in length of data field, default values, acceptable values, source  system considerations, security considerations, responsible users in the  description and comments) Recommend which of the  source systems you would prioritize as the first system to include in  the expansion of the data warehouse for THS based on the strategic  direction of the organization.
