The topic can be broader and does not need to be policy specific (to a single bill). Examples are posted to Canvas.  Instructions: 1. Policy Issue Selection: Choose a specific policy issue related to the course content or of personal interest. The issue should be significant and have varying perspectives and potential policy implications. 2. Research and Preparation: Conduct in-depth research on the chosen policy issue, exploring multiple viewpoints, existing legislation, scholarly articles, reports, and real-world examples. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the issue and its context. 3. Testimony Development: Prepare a 1.5 to 2-page written testimony (single-spaced) that outlines your position on the policy issue. Structure your testimony with an introduction, key points, supporting evidence, and a persuasive conclusion. Your testimony should articulate your stance, provide reasoning, and propose policy recommendations. Use credible sources to back up your arguments. 4. Congressional Hearing Simulation: In a classroom or online setting, students will assume the roles of congresspersons. Each student will have 5 minutes to deliver their uninterrupted testimony.
