Description For this Packback post you will need to interview a leader. The leader does not have to be high-ranking and they do not need to be a leader in a for-profit organization. They can be a volunteer leader, a leader in a government agency, school, or a not-for-profit organization or they could be a coach or minister. In other words, do not be too narrow in your definition of "leader." You will ask them the following questions. This is not a judgment about the person you interviewed (which is why you should make the subject anonymous unless they give you permission to identify them). This class is not about judging others but getting practice in noticing and then thinking about ethical problems that arise in organizations. Leader Interview Questions: Recall a time in your work experience when your values conflicted with what you were expected to do in a particular, non-trivial management decision. You either spoke up and acted to resolve the conflict or you failed to speak up. 1. What was the situation? 2. What did you do and what was the impact? 3. What motivated you to speak up and act OR what prevented you from speaking up and acting? 5. What would have made it easier for you to speak/act? In addition, in your opinion, which of the 7 Pillars (pg. 26-27), as described by Gentile, did your subject make use of or rely on? Do not limit the discussion to the material on pages 26-27.
