Description Answer the following questions: Review the core aspects of the social work mission as suggested by the Global Definition of Social Work (International Federation of Social Workers, 2014), the Preamble to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers (2008), and the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards of the Council on Social Work Education (2015). Use your word-processing program to prepare a brief one- to two-page (250–500 words) report in which you discuss what the following passages mean to you as a person, a student, and a future social worker: a. social workers “promote social change … and the empowerment and liberation of people” (International Federation of Social Workers, 2014, para. 1); b. social workers pay “attention to the environmental forces that create, contribute to, and address problems in living . . . (and ) promote social justice . . . (and) . . . strive to end dis crimination, oppression, poverty, and other forms of social injustice” (National Association of Social Workers, 2008); and c. social workers seek “human and community well-being . . . social and economic justice, the prevention of conditions that limit human rights, the elimination of poverty, and the enhancement of the quality of life for all persons, locally and globally” (Council on Social Work Education, 2015, para. 1).
