Objective: Students will analyze media representations of diverse social groups to understand how these depictions can influence public perception and perpetuate stereotypes or inequalities. Instructions: Select a form of media (e.g., television show, movie, news article, or advertisement) that features characters or individuals from diverse social groups. Analyze the media content by considering the following questions: a. How are different social groups represented in the media content? b. What messages or stereotypes are conveyed through these representations? c. In what ways might these representations contribute to or challenge existing inequalities or stereotypes? d. What changes would you suggest to make the media content more inclusive and equitable? Write a 1,500-2,000 word analysis paper discussing your findings and addressing the above questions. Be sure to support your arguments with relevant examples and scholarly sources on media representation and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
