Assignment Purpose This Executive Briefing Paper begins students on the journey of completing a comprehensive Strategic Analysis as a simulation for what graduates would do in the role of a strategic manager. ASSIGNMENT 1 In this course you will apply the concepts learned with a series of Executive Briefings intended to be sent to the Board of Directors of a company of your choice (one you find interesting). This is Briefing One. The first step is to select a domestic or international organization that is interesting to you. A public company will have a good deal of information available to you. Choose wisely, as you’ll be working with this company throughout this course. Something of personal interest and relevance will be a good choice! You may use your own organization, provided there is enough information similar to what you could find on a public company to complete the assessment. You may want to review this site containing the Forbes list of the World's Largest Companies, 2018 (Links to an external site.). When making your selection, you may want to consider: o Meaning: Is it important to me? Will it hold my interest and be worth my time over the next six weeks of class? o Meat: Is there enough information readily available? (Using reputable media, news, company web page, etc.) o Muscle: Is it a strong enough player to evaluate? o Morph: You'll be making environmental scanning recommendations based on our applied learning. Ensure there’ll be enough substance.
