Assess the effectiveness of U.S. drug policy and enforcement The authors of Policing the Globe ide ...

Assess the effectiveness of U.S. drug policy and enforcement The authors of Policing the Globe identify the stages of "global prohibition regimes" through criminalization -- Stage 1) legitimacy of behavior, Stage 2) behavior redefined as evil, Stage 3) country suppression and criminalization of behavior, Stage 4) international criminalization of behavior, and 5) incidence of the behavior is greatly reduced or eliminated. While behaviors such as piracy and slavery have been dramatically reduced, although not eliminated globally, drug trafficking continues to thrive in many parts of the world, including into the U.S. Your response MUST address the following questions: Should the U.S. continue its global War on Drugs? If so, why? Does the decriminalization of marijuana and other illicit drugs by U.S. states have implications for our international drug policies? Should it? Discuss the pros and cons Trump administration's foreign policy approach to Mexico (tariff threats, use of military resources, diplomatic pressure, etc.) Respond to the discussion question, maximum 300 words. Reply to two students. I STRONGLY encourage you to take a position, even a position you may not instinctively agree with. You should also provide a counter-argument, suggestion, or policy alternative in your replies, and not simply AGREE with your classmates' assessments. Replies are maximum 200 words.
