1)      Read: Lee, Everett S. 1966. "A Theory of Migration." Demography 3(1): 47-57. Give an example of a push factor and an example of a pull factor. What other factors affect decisions to migrate?   2)      Read: Massey, Douglas S. 1990. "The Social and Economic Origins of Immigration." Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science 510: 60-72. In this article, Massey calls our attention to factors that often affect migration decision and would be missed with too narrow a focus on economic costs and benefits.
