APA Dissertation Format (Student's Guide)

 

1.Font and Spacing
Use 12-point Times New Roman font and double-space your text. The right margin should be left-aligned, also referred to as ragged right.

 

2. Page Numbers
Page numbers should match the font used in the dissertation and have at least ½ inch of clear space around them. They can be positioned at the bottom center of the page or in the upper right corner.

 

3. Headings
APA employs a five-level heading system with specific rules for bold, italics, and placement. Level 3 headings should be italicized, bold, and in capital letters.

 

4. Sections and Chapters

5. Abstract
Provide a brief paragraph summarizing the main points and conclusions of your thesis. This section should be double-spaced and should not include references.

 

6. Reference List
The first line of each citation should be left-aligned, with subsequent lines indented by 5-7 spaces.

 

7. Verb Tense
Maintain consistent verb tenses throughout the dissertation.

 

8. Citation
